How often do you see your radiation oncologist?
Do you see your radiation oncologist every visit or do you see the technician? If you just see the technician, how often do you see the rad onc? Do you feel it is important to see the rad onc at least once a week?

I saw my rad onc every week. She evaluated the changes my skin was going through as a result of the rads and provided the right type of cream or ointment depending on what she saw.

I saw my Rad onco on first pre-surgery visit, started rads Dec 3, have 18 down, 12 to go, Since then I have only seen her once when I had a complaint (they let new tech do my treatment and even though I tried to make sure she was qualified, she did it wrong!!!.)..I had a fit and they got her so she could try to explain to me that there was no harm done...then I saw her in hallway before she took her 2 week vacation.....I only see her assistant on Mondays after treatment, she is wonderful and will answer all questions there or if I call her......So if I had not had a complaint or accidentally seen her in the hallway, I would have seen her once!!!...my very first visit over 2 months ago.....

The center where I went the standard was to check weight and see rad onc once a week for questions and to check the rad area. Techs could answer questions if necessary in-between but rad onc was always onsite if a patient wanted to talk.
My techs were good and I usually had no questions for rad onc (saw him 7 times during 33 rad treatments) because I had no issues; no peeling, just darkening of skin, but it was still mandatory to see him weekly (techs would sit on you if you wanted to leave LOL).

I saw my rad onc once a week during rads. she just asked the basic questions: how you feeling, any questions ect..ect.
When I finished rads, I saw her 4 weeks later just to follow up. That was it.

Yep, forgot about the 4 week follow-up. then they wanted to do 3 month follow ups but I didn't feel it necessary since I see the med onc every 3 months.

I saw the rad onc once a week, and if there were any questions in between the nurses would answer them. The techs answer questions? Only if they had no choice.
The rad onc sad med onc will do all follow-up. OK by me.

I have an introductory meeting with a radiation oncologist on January 7th. Her secretary told me she customary meets with a patient initially and then at the end of the treatment, 6 weeks later. I thought it was odd. So, I thought I would ask all of you experts out there.

I see the Radiation Oncologist weekly. I've had 26 treatments with 7 to go. Best wishes for an easy treatment process. Renee

I saw the radiologist every Friday during treatment, then in one month, then in 3 months, now he wants me to come back 2 X a year but I don't think I need to.

From all the posts I have read, everyone sees their rad oncologist once a week or LESS. WOW, I saw mine once a week. DO YOU GUYS THINK THIS IS ENOUGH?????????? I have totally lost faith in mine. I finished rads on 9/30 and my mammo was 12/28 (which I think is way too long) Then when I get the mammo, it was ONLY on the breast that had cancer. give me a break, WHY WOULD A RAD ONC ONLY REQUEST A MAMMO ON THE CANCER BREAST AND NOT BOTH???????????????????????????????? LORD HAVE MERCY ON US WOMEN WHO HAVE IDIOTS THAT ARE DOCTORS????????????
