Until you get the official results, you don't know for sure that there is anything there, despite what the radiologist said. I did have a recurrence ... actually a new bc in my other breast only 3 years following the first. The good news is that it was a new bc and not a recurrence. Hopefully yours will be fine but the waiting over Christmas is very difficult. It seems that with a biopsy, there is no way to speed up the results. Best wishes.

Hi, so sorry for all the stress you must be under. hff is right, the good news is that if it is found to be bc (you won't know until results) it is not a recurrence. The stats I was quoted by my surgeon when I was debating wether of not to opt for a double mas/recon or just one side what that as soon as you have had 1 bc, then you are at least at a 25/30 percent chance of having another primary bc. You were wondering also how this could have occured when you have recently had a full chemo treatment. My thoughts on that would be that if there is a new primary cancer it may be a completely different type (ie: one hormone positive one tri neg etc) so the chemo that you have which was decided on the basis of the original bc's characteristics might not be the chemo, (if invasive) that would be prescribed for the new bc.

In any case, this would not be a recurrence, be comforted if you can by this. The waiting as you well know, is the worse part. I do hope it is a B9 blip for you. Sometimes radiologists say too much before they really know enough.

Do what ever you can to stay busy and sane whilst you wait.

    Take care

I had a stereotactic biopsy.  It really wasn't bad at all.  You lay on an elevated table on your stomach with the breast suspended through a hole and from beneath you, the surgeon numbs the breast with a local anesthetic and then uses a special instrument to grab a tissue sample or maybe a few tissue samples.  I had no pain during it or afterward although I was extremely bruised for about a week.  Lots of purple and blue which turned to yellowish after a few days over most of the breast.  Really not bad.  Nothing to fear.
