Good stage 3 story!! - Happy Holidays!!
Hi Ladies
I am not stage 3 but read your posts often and have posted with many of you. You are a great group of ladies.
Anyway wanted to share a good stage 3 story for you the night before Christmas!
I got an email from my stepmom this am inviting me to a party for my stepaunt. She is celebrating her 25th cancer free year party this Saturday.
Here is her story...
Sherry was dxed when she was 40 with Stage 3 BC, 7 out of 12 nodes positive, large tumor.
She was ER positive but tamoxifen was not in the picture yet so she had a mastectomy (one side) and 6 months of chemo and thats it. Back in the day the Docs gave her less than a 50 percent survival. She just turned 65 had 4 grandkids and is retiring.
Invited to her party is my Stepmom (15 year survior of stage 2b 3 nodes) and their close friend 16 nodes 11 year survivor. They both state they only know one person personally that has died and that was my paternal aunt who had huge tumor 6 nodes and did not do chemo it was back in the day when they only believed in Tamox for er positive cancer, this was a weird 6 month period 15 years ago. Anyway they have seen a lot and say that many do well. We don't hear it because they are not online. None of these 3 women even know about BC.ORG.
BE WELL!!

Great story!
I went Monday to the salon to get my eye brows tinted. Was telling the esthetician about how my eyebrows thinned out since finishing chemo.....she asked what kind of cancer.
She is a 15 + yr survivor. She cant remember the exact date anymore, only that it was the 80's. Mastectomy,chemo....thats it. She said it was big and ugly.

mmm5- You are my Santa Claus this year. Your story was such a gift. I have had such a roller coaster of emotions today...thrilled to be cancer free...scared about possibilities...thrilled about possibilities...enjoying my kids...fearing for my kids. I hope all of us will be back here in 25 years saying how few people we knew that died from breast cancer.

Thanks so much for sharing - it always helps to hear these stories!!

You should post this in the inspirational stories:) I oftn reread this when I am feeling down.
-
Pure - I added this to my favorites so I could reread it when I'm down, too.
I saved a couple of other similar posts and I have my "Positive Thoughts" journal. It's just a list of the promising things in my treatment (like herceptin) and cards, notes and quotes that make me feel better, stronger, more hopeful.....

I just read this story for the first time today and wanted to say thank you for posting it! Positive stories seem to be so much more rare than the negative ones and this story gave me such a boost this morning! Thanks again.
