I think I posted this on the wrong bit - but need some advice.  I had breast cancer 10 years ago, had a mastectomy chemo the works and have been fine and healthy every since. Last week I went to GP to have a small skin lesion removed from my scalp and today I was given the results that this is my breast cancer returned.  I am shell shocked about this.  I have an appointment tomorrow at the hospital to discuss things I assume - just wondered if anyone else had come across this sort of reoccurrence.  I have to admit I am panicking abit and really wondering if this is my last xmas!

I'm sorry no one has answered your post yet.  I had a friend who's mom had a recurrrence in her scalp.  I only know b/c he told me, but I don't know the particulars of her cancer and where else it was.  Your cancer is different than everyone else's, and the doctors will come up with a game plan to address what has happened.  It certainly doesn't mean this is your last Christmas, though I'm so sorry that you are going through all this.  I'm sure it must not be easy.  Come here for support and strength.  So many ladies here have helped me through some tough stuff.  Good luck.

Thanks for your reply Bobby.  Been to clinic today but they are totally flumaxed by the whole thing.  Never dealt with skin mets before from BC.  They are hoping that it may be an isolated incident as I have no other symptoms (apart from blind panic!).  I am now waiting for a fully body scan and a head scan (dont know the terms).  I then have another appointment on 6th January to go through the results.  I am feeling a bit more positive, although they have said I will have to have some radio or chemo whatever the outcome, but if its nowhere else that will be liveable with.  Feel sorry for Hubby, we thought we had put all the hospital visits etc behind us, but we are a strong team.    Will let you know xx

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this new (and unusual) recurrence of breast cancer. I suggest that you go over to the STAGE IV BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS forum--the ladies there are all dealing with different types of metastasis. They are knowledgeable, helpful, funny, and kind. I'm sure you'll get support and information and perhaps even find others who have dealt with this type of recurrence. There's at least one other UK lady who posts there.

SandraJoy,  I don't have skin mets but I have read threads on this site and others talking about it.  I know some have radiation to treat and some have mentioned a cream from Germany called Miltex.  If you do post on the stage IV forum you will probably have better luck finding someone with experience.  If you do not find anyone on this site, I am putting two links below to another stage IV site where I have read others discussing skin mets.  Best to you!!!   lisa

Hi: I was diagnosed with  Inoperable left breast cancer due to skin involvement in October 2011. I went to 3 surgeons and no one would do surgery.  I then found a surgeon, Dr. Vincent Ansanelli,  in Plainview NY who uses a laser to do surgery and had a mastectomy in November 2012. I believe he  has  saved my life. About a month before the mastectomy the cancer begin to spread through my skin over to the right  breast and  under my left arm and up towards my left shoulder. Dr. Ansanelli could  not remove this. He did biopsy an area and it was  pathologically determined to be  cutaneous infiltrating ductal carcinoma mets. He recommended IPT/Low Dose Chemo. I did this for 6 weeks and I  became very ill and it did not improve my cancer. In fact it got worse. I am an MD and so did some independent research online and found where the essential oil of frankincense has been reserached with Stage 4 Breast Cancer and Bladder Cancer with positive results. It causes cellular apoptosis. I started using frankincense oil topically one week ago that I purchased from Shining Sun Aromatherapy, www.ShiningSunAromatherapy.com. It is $55.00 a bottle. The results have been  miraculous! The tumors are about  half or more less in size that a week ago when I started. I am applying 4 to 6 times a day. An added bonus is that it smells wonderful. The skin did get a red and bumpy rash initially, like a sand paper like burn, but is improving. Based on my personal reults you may consider giving this a try. It is working for me. I anticipate at this rate to  have all eliminated in about 4 to 6 weeks max and will get  an MRI with contrast or Petscan after visual and tactile examination show no evidence of cutenous mets. I do pray that  this will help you and others. Based on my personal experience this is a simple inexpensive non toxic means to eliminate cutaneous breast cancer mets.
