6 weeks condensed to 3 weeks

Options

Due to the distance I had to travel for treatment, my radiologist offered doing the same amount of radiation in three weeks that would normally be done in six.  He assured me this is the standard practice in Canada and Europe and that this was the wave of the future here.  He said my side effects would be no different.  I am now five weeks out of treatment and my nipple and small area surrounding it are extremely painful.  Any other experiences like this?

    Dear BPE,

I think you got the Canadian fraction. It is indeed true that a Canadian study (google Dr. Whelan) has shown that this is equally effective and equally safe. They released data from 12 years post radiation recently. The pain should have subsided by now. Please contact the radiation oncologist right away.
