Can you burn the 1st Day of Rads?

Ladies - sis started rads yesterday and states skin in irradiated area already red and painful. Anyone have that so soon? Does that mean she is going to get worse over the 6 weeks?

She is using Aquaphor as ordered and started it several weeks b4 rads.

Any thoughts?

Her rad onc said no expected skin changes until 2-3 weeks.

She is s/p unilateral mastectomy with an fully filled tissue expander in place. Getting rads to chest and axilla

I didn't start getting red and irritated until the 4th week of rads, and a week following my last treatment I started to bister in one spot.  It still remains sore and finished in beginning of this month.  Your sis may be extra sensitive but she should use the Aquaphore after each treatment.
