doc found mass/?

Options

I had hernia surgery in right lower side with mesh 9 months ago. I felt great and nothing more happened. About three months ago or so started having pain near pelvic bone and lower right side. A couple of nights ago I felt a small lump and quickly kept feeling....It has been painful and notice when sitting. I had appt with new Doc today as my GP left and told him. He felt and said he felt a (mass) next to bone. Now the mesh is in that area but this is a ball like mass. It was very painful to the extent he prescribed Darvocet. I have a CT scan tomorrow and he did blood work up today. I cant have dye due to allergy so will this hinder??? Ok I am scared.... I am sure as he said could be scar tissue but I did not like the look on his face. Will a CT without contrast be enough?  AGain thanks...

Sounds like an infected lymph node, but I'm not a doctor. Please post here so we know what the result was. You're in my prayers today.

The edge of the mesh can fray and allow a hernia to form--this may be what you are feeling.  The CT will most likely tell, even without the contrast.  If not, then they'll ask for an MRI.  I'm sure this is terrifying for you--I'll be praying for you.

Thanks, the Tech said it could be scar tissue and I think it is but with history they have to check. The mesh did stretch apart from muscle a few months ago but seems not be it. I am waiting.

My daughter had the same hernia surgery with the mesh also put in two years ago.  The first year everything went well.  During the second year, she began having pain on and off and then continuous.  For 3 months her surgeon kept telling her she was too thin and that was causing it to feel that way!  A couple of months later, she was in dire pain all the time and felt a know in there.  Went to another doctor and he said the mesh had curled at one corner and her nerves grew around it along with scar tissue.  Whole surgery had to be redone and she is now fine.  Hope this is the case with you as well.  Not that I wish you any further pain or suffering; however, it was not a tumor or cancer in any form.  Good luck and God bless.
