How long does breast swelling last after lumpectomy?

After the 48 hours of wearing the hospital compression bra, I switched to a zip-front sports bra with removable rigid cups (which I left in), and I added a folded soft cotton sock to take up the space difference from the lumpectomy. I had one very tiny swelling bump, which the BS said was directly over the tumor spot and gave her an easy target for the necessary re-excision. I wore that bra and sock 24/7 (except for washing) for three to four weeks after each surgery, and it really helped. Compression is our best friend!
