Radiation recall.....it can happen years later. The breast gets ver traumatized with radiation. Mine happened 5 years out.

So happy to find this thread. Heat & drugs also will cause RRD ( radiation recall dermatitis). I finished rads Jan 3rd 2014. Went to Mexico, stayed in shade with sunscreen. Came back & had rash. Had punch biopsy done, that was in Dec 2014. Still have the rash, it faded a bit, then came summer heat, it got redder. I find if I'm doing something physical & creating heat it flares up. It got really bad & extremely painful when I went on antibiotics also last yr. As I told my RO, it is what it is. It is extremely rare, so there is very little info out there. Thank you BCO!

Jennie, happened across this by total accident but want to echo what JO-5 said. Show your breast surgeon or oncologist ASAP and let them rule out anything bad.

I finished rads 5 months ago and have an itchy rash above my (still dark coloured) irradiated breast - adjoining the irradiated field but not I think in it. It starts in the crease between the breasts and spreads up and out, but only on that side.... Anyone seen this? Thank you

Hi SS (hey we are nearly neighbours!)

It is important that you should see your breast surgeon, oncologist or radiation oncologist to have it checked. It is important that you get that seen. Try not to worry, there can be lots of causes for rashes, especially post rads.

    Very best wishes XXX

PS lived in London in Islington (the Camden end) back in late 80 early 90s. I was in my early 20's then. Love London. Lived 5 years in beautiful Kent too.

    Hi,

I did not have breast cancer. I had uterine cancer, was googling radiation rash. I came across your comment.

I had radiation over two years ago. It have been telling others that I still keep getting those itchy red bumps. I noticed that after ANY form of radiation exposure ,it would start back again. They wanted a X-ray  and I had the rash. I was telling the nurse and she said she had never heard of that. I told her to google radiation rash.If I get any form, mammogram ,teeth X-ray ,X-ray ,MRI,Scann, a few days after I will get the rash, even bleed vaginally, bladder, colon. I kept saying it not my imagination, I react to any form of radiation. Thanks for sharing that. So I agree with you! Best wishes on your journey, one day at a time!
