"In addition, "[s]eventy-six percent of women said they believe that the panel based its conclusions on cost, even though the task force's report included only scientific studies" (Szabo, 11/24)."

This  ironic that the USPSTF stated this because their studies were hand picked to show what they wanted to show.  There was one Danish study which stated that the loss would be more like 9%...yet, the US showed enough studies to counter it into showing the median would be only 3%...which still proves that their changes are indeed based on cost.  What is the term "Scientific study" suppose to scare us into not looking at the figures and compute what the USPSTF is actually saying verses the sugar coating that they are now trying to do with the figures?

I am tired of the "mind games" that this government (why I say government is because the USPSTF has been granted power from this government through their health care bill) is playing with the politics of health care...that is OUR health care...the Senators and Representatives health care is safe from these changes.  You look at the evidence and dismiss the gloss and you still get the basic:

    1. Government is giving the USPSTF formally a huge amount of power over our health care and basic cancer screening standards of care.  Starting on page 17 of the bill.

    2. The USPSTF states that there will be women dying from the new standards which they cited as something like 3%.  Why the change if women will be dying from it?  The only thing that is plausible is that it is for cost cutting.

    3. Women may still be getting mammograms, but the insurances will not need to cover it and they will be paying for the test twice..once from taxes and the next will be out of pocket.

    4.  The timing of the publicity and the voting of the "health care" bill are oddly close which is strange because the "new"standards have been out for over a year.  Why?

    5.  Government has never made anything better...in fact they usually use bueracracy to make things much worse.  Look what the government has done with Social Security?  They dipped into it whenever they needed to and then in the next breath they are yelling about how the SS is going broke.  The health care is nothing more than another tax that will be like SS.

    6.   Our children will be the ones who will not be getting the cancer screening in the years to come.  It will not affect the majority of the women on this forum because 99% of us already have a big red "C" on our forehead.

As far as politics, I never voted for Bush (either one) and I knew that Bush Jr would be going into war with Iraq and find any excuse to do so.  I spoke out against that and now I am speaking out against the USPSTF because wrong is wrong and I can not in good conscience let this train wreck of USPSTF happen without fighting and pointing out the truth in the bed of lies.
