MaryNY- When I completed RADS 3 weeks ago-- I took in the largest bag of candy kisses I could find. I think even when I was giving the RAD Oncologist a hug, that I gave her a kiss on the cheek!! he he-- This is so traditional for me though not for her! ha ha
I am still a little fatigued from RADS and my skin is definitely on the mend-- still a little pink in some areas but overall doing good! The thing I am dealing with now is trying to get the little black marks that Silvadene creme left on me..... The nurse said I could soak in the bathtub and rub some dial soap with my fingers over the areas but still do not use a wash rag or let the shower head run directly over the skin. THE FUNNY THING is that I was allowing the shower head to run directly over my skin for weeks..... oops.....

Yes, MaryNY, it's on to Tamoxifen next. I'm starting that tomorrow. I hope I don't have too many side effects, but to quote a friend and fellow breast cancer survivor,"I'll take hot flashes over cancer any day!"(Never mind the risk of uterine cancer, but I knew what she meant).
I took brownies and individual thank you cards to my rads team today. They were the best.

I brought in candy lollipop roses (you know the ones made from white chocolate). I brought them in little gift bags with roses on them and a poem in the card delaing with roses. All my nurses from chemo and rads were awesome people.

Started my boosts this week (3 sessions). Anything I should be on the lookout for? I have four more to go. Will the healing start as soon as it's done or will ramp for a bit after treatment is stopped?
Thanks!

Hi all Feb sisters
I finished in early March and I have to tell you that a month after finishing the treated breast is almost normal. So hang in there thru the skin issues. -
Sotiredofthis - I finished radiation March 31st and my skin definitely got redder and felt increasingly more irritated for about a week after I was done. My Onc had warned me that this would happen and told me to keep using the lotions. After that first week it started calming down and now, a little more than 3-weeks after the final rad, it's looking pretty normal. Nicely tanned!

Hi all, I finished my treatment on April 7th! Whew! so glad that it's over!! couldn't wait to get out of that place! My skin peeled alot in the first week. But now it is much better. I still use the Biafine twice a day and the redness is gone. On to Tamoxifen in about 3 weeks. A little nervous about all of that. Any suggestions????
Love to all

Finished my rads 4/7 finally after a bout with a nasty bug and had to put off finishing for a couple of days. One day I coughed during tx and threw the machine off kilter and they had to start over.
. My worst SE's (skin related) were in the middle of TX as the swelling combined with a few skin issues kinda hit their stride and then I had the itchy rash things. I was pretty dilligent with aloe followed by calendula cream (3-4 x day), airing out, ibuprofen for swelling and a cut up t-shirt swath under the breast to minimize skin-to-skin contact. When the itchy stuff started, cortizone and then an RX for Diprolene helped tremendously. I still believe NOT using Aquaphor worked best for my skin along with the above.
I have been putting off tamoxifen but will be seeing the Onc on 4/29 so will pick up the RX then I am sure. Fatigue is finally waning but every once in awhile I can feel it. A good diet, daily exercise and the occasional nap is the only thing that helps that. Congrats to all...onward and upward with LIFE!

Dear Dawn,
Hope the side effects from the rads have gone now. It took my skin 3 months to fully recover. I am very pleased with the healing so far.
Love,
