Hi,

well, I am one year post surgery(Lumpectomy), chemo (for an onc score of 27) and radiation.  Am on lupron and femara....feeling great---healed well, tolerated chemo and radiation well- worked fulltime have two young kids.

Had my follow up with my surgeon on friday--- everything looks good-had a clear mammogram, will have an MRI in a few months.  I finally was able to read my path report without too much emotion... when I talked to the surgeon about my path last december, I asked about the LCIS that they found when they were removing the lump.  She said that if they were going to name LCIS today, they would not call it carcinoma....

I brought it up again in our meeting this week--LCIS didn't show up in a mammo or an MRI last year when I was being tested--- she again said that it would not be labeled a carcinoma and she did not see that my risk was any higher than we already calculated it to be (about 9%) with oncotype, treatment, family history (none), etc.

She also said that lcis can be in people for a long time and never turn into anything else---- I used to hear that about dcis too....

anyway, I think my approach is going to be surveillance--I have already had the invasive lump with clear nodes and margins.... but reading here has been helpful.  I hope you don't mind if I join your group.

I am going to talk about this with my onc in our next meeting.  I have nothing but the highest regard for the surgeon--she is a researcher as well as a great surgeon..... so we will see what the onc thinks.....

    Hi momand2kids

Welcome to the LCIS thread and congratulations on all of your clear tests.   It must be a huge relief to be on the other side of this. I also have 2 kids (17 & 9 year old), and I am on the other side of the fence (still in the diagnosis stage, waiting for results and waiting for treatment). It is encouraging to hear the stories of those who have successfully finished their treatments.

    Happy Thanksgiving

    Take Care

    Hi momand2kids

Because so far mine is PLCIS, which the thinking is to treat it like DCIS. I have already had a lumpectomy trying to get clear margins, and if so then I will have radiation. I find out next Monday if in fact she did get clear margins and/or if they found anything else.
