Contact your REPRESENTATIVE List...
I'm contacting ALL of my representative, and I'm starting here with this list..... CONGRESS/House: http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW_by_State.shtml
This is the e-mail I've started sending.... feel free to copy it if you want to. Short and to the point. I've refrained from sending the smiley giving the finger, though I'd like to line the e-mail with it....

Dear Representative,
I have a name. I have a face. I will not shut up and die nor allow my daughter to shut up and die. How DARE you tell us to not even self exam? MANY of us found our cancers that way and when ignored by the doctors, the Mamo's picked it up!! How dare you gear up to start FURTHER lining your pockets and the pockets of insurance companies! The age for suggested mammogram's should be 30 NOT 50 !!!! I'd be dead now. What about our children?
I HAVE A NAME - I HAVE A FACE - I HAVE CANCER

Here is what I wrote to my congressman and senators
I have a name - I have a face - I have cancer. I don't want to be one of the statistics of a woman who died because of the new guidelines.
I do not agree with the new guidelines that were put out yesterday regarding starting mammograms at the age of 50 instead of 40. I am one who mammograms before the age of 50 saved my life. I started having mammograms at 40. At age 44, with no physical lumps, my mammo showed calcifications, the biopsy revealed pre-cancer. Just before my 46th birthday again my mammo revealed calcifications in the opposite breast, and again it was pre-cancer. Then 6 months later, my mammo again showed calcifications in the right breast for the 2nd time. This time the biopsy revealed early stage breast cancer. Because the cancer was found in the pre-invasive stage, I was able to avoid chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Please don't take this needed screening tool away from women like myself, who don't feel lumps but the mammogram shows that there is a problem.
Thank you so much for listing to my concerns.
Sheila

The government REALLY needs to stay OUT OF OUR HEALTH ISSUES! They can't even manage Medicare and Medicaid - and now they want to manage every citizen's health issues! They are out of control and they need to back off! Damn...I am so angry about this! As if we don't have ENOUGH to worry about!
AND... the government run "board" should visit the website titled:
Young Survivor Coalition - especially the forum titled "REMEMBRANCE"
http://www.youngsurvival.org/bulletin-board/
Maybe...just maybe...they would have a change of heart!
-
Thank you Catol and Sheila. I am going to start my letter now and will also forward this link to my bc sisters. We need to unite and tell this bunch of bureaucrats to back away. We need to make a lot of noise. These new guidelines need to be trashed, they are unacceptable!!!!

No doubt Laura... if this is a taste... I am so scared...
-
Sherri G - NICE! Strong office there!
Sachi - you go girl! (I emailed everyone I could to get them to help)
ijh58 - Nice list THANKS!
LAURA - AMEN and RIGHT ON SISTER!!!! Our overall health care system is at stake and it's starting here!
I can't imagine what made them think messing with a bunch of STRONG, MENOPAUSAL woman was a good idea?!?!?
This morning the news reported "...but this is just a "suggestion", Insurance still has to pay for mamos at 35 and thereafter...." Yeah, for HOW long will that last? How long before this stupid group starts just making shit up out of their asses (to syphin more money) and slipping things into bills and changing it all for the worse? Deep down, we all know this is what will happen. This is merely the prelude to the kiss of death. They picked their first fight with the WRONG group of people.
