There's a 1 in 7 chance that a woman will get breast cancer at some point during her life.

    The situation is absolutely appalling.

I've heard at least 12 doctors comment on the situation, and every single one of them is completely against the new recommendations. It's horrible that this has happened, but I find a slight bit of encouragement that physicians are speaking out so vehemently against it. My daughter's med school profs (mostly MDs) are furious and they're taking a stand to get it fixed.

Hopefully women will listen to us, the fighters, and to their doctors. After all, those are the people who know what they're talking about.

Be strong, like you are. We'll get rid of this abomination!

Why were there no oncologists on the board  that established these guidelines?????????

If I read correctly, and if the information printed was correct, research by onc. was presented to the group--and other reasearch was, too.  I just think they used stats wrong, and of course we all know stats can be made to prove any point one selects, and the wording of research can change the whole content.

They need to negate this recommendation as soon as possible and get updated information to evaluate.

I've emailed my senators and congresswoman.  I still can't believe that this whole guideline thing came about, esp with so many women like me who were diagnosed at an younger age.

You have to become visable as women.  If our ancestors taught anything is to remember how we got the right to vote because the woman suffrage marches of 1920.  All the petitions in the world are not going to send a clear message until they see a million of us, our faces to remind government and insurance policy makers we are in control and not them.  We vote, we purchase and run corporations, big and small.   Being polite, appropiate and well meaning will not save lives.  New legistraton and historic marches will.

I fear this will upset some of you but please try to think about it in a way to really get attention.  I mean NO disrespect with this at all.

I think we should do a 40,000 dead women march at DC.  If each year 240,000 women are dx and 40,000 die we should demonstrate 6 women carrying our dead sisters.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
