After having breat cancer surgery and the removal of three lympth nodes, the results are as follows: Tumor was under 1cm but all three lympth nodes had microscopic cancer cells. She will be going into surgery again for "Completion", the removal of more nodes. The Pathology report indicated "Metastatic lobular carcinoma in all three nodes. She has been told that she will require both Chemo and Radiation

Can someone provide a more detailed explaination of what the second surgery means and does this mean it has spread throughout her body. Her lung, bone and liver scan came back clean.

Hello Johnny; I think that the pathologist is referring to only the nodes as metastatic.  Mine read about the same way and it meant that what was in the nodes was the same as the carcinoma they found in her breast tumor.

Johnny, I'm assuming she had a sentinel node biopsy (SNB) during the first procedure,  The three nodes removed during the SNB revealed cancer, so the point of the second surgery is for the doctors to remove and test more lymphnodes (unfortunately, they can't just test them, they have to remove them) b/c they don't want to leave her with infected nodes. And it's very good news that her scan were clean.

This is not the best forum for your question and I fear the women who will be best able to help you (women with triple negative cancer) won't see your question. Try posting to the triple negative forum  (link is below) these women are most familiar with triple negative treatment (I believe chemo is protocol with triple negative) and they will be in the best position to answer your questions.
