Tenderness Itching Opposite Breast

Options

I had a mastecomy on the right side back in April, the insurance wouldn't pay for the left so I still have it. I have been through my chemo, still receiving herceptin every 3 weeks, and am now on # 18 today of rads of 33. My question is has anyone else had their remaining breast become tender and itchy? (the side that they are not radiating) I went to my gyno a few weeks ago to make sure that I didn't have any new lumps. She said there were none. Can these symptoms be from menopause???? I am just so worried I guess about it coming back in my remaining breast.

Yes, my non-cancer breast was itchy and had small white blisters.  The rad nurse explained to me that it was because of the angle of radiation on that view.  Because radiation doesn't bend, the beam runs in a staight line, depending on the angle.  She explained that the radiation across one particular field caused the very fine hairs on the other side to become inflamed.  After 28 regular rads, I had 8 boosts.  The field changed for the boosts and the itchiness and rash went away.

I'll keep you in my thoughts,
