Back again so soon..

Two years ago I had PBMs after being diagnosed with LCIS (lobular carcinoma in situ) with DIEP reconstruction at that time. Many people thought this was an outrageous choice for a stage 0 cancer with a small lifetime risk of becoming invasive.

About two weeks ago I felt some pain under my arm and saw my oncologist. She felt some lumpy areas in both reconstructed breasts and advised me to see someone who could aspirate the lump.

I made an appointment with a breast surgical oncologist who ordered an ultrasound and MRI of my breasts. The next day the nurse called to tell me the MRI revealed a 1cm mass in or near my lymph nodes. I go back in for another untrasound of the area on Monday.

I did have a nipple sparing double mastectomies. My surgeon assured me at the time I would have less than a 3% risk of recurrence by making this choice.

But now I am pretty concerned. If this is a recurrence,(recurrence? No one would even say I had cancer in the first place!!!) what could it be? ILC?Would that develop in just two years? Can they go back in and do sentinal node biopsy after PBMs? Has this situation occured on our boards before?

Thanks, Amy
