Middle Aged Memories

Ididn't have one, but my sister did. I think hers was red though. They were hard and could do a lot of damege.
-
-
KOSMIC KIDDLES!!! That's what they were called. I wracked my brain and couldn't remember...
Love 'em all!!!
-
I think that I had the purple kiddle, she smelled like lilac.
-
Me, too.
-
I had a sweet sixteen Barbie with Scratch n' Sniff stickers on her hairbrush and barrettes.
-
-
-
-
I didn't have a Barbie growing up; I had a "Dawn" doll... she was smaller than Barbie, but had several hair pieces and falls that you could use to make different hairstyles. And, of course, there was a drop-dead wardrobe to collect.
-
I didnt have a Barbie either, my big sister got Barbie, I got Midge-----not that I'm bitter about that-------any more...
We used to pretend that our barbie cases were their trailers. We also used to use our Mom's sewing scraps and fabric samples from Dads store to wrap around our dolls and create fancy dresses. I do remember those beautiful Barbie clothes though, remember the Guinevere dress? Always loved that one!
-
I had a Dawn doll, but only one outfit. Wasn't she the one when you moved her arm up and down she twisted at the waist?
I din't have a Barbie for a long time, and when I got one it was my sister's hand me down Midge. Her hair was in less than pristine condition, but hey, I could at least dress her up. My sister liked to put down my dolls for their appearance.
We also made dresses from sewing scraps and from fabric samples out of wallpaper books from my dad's store! I loved looking at the little catalogues they had when you bought a Barbie.
-
I knitted a "sweaterdress" for my Barbie. It was the 60's and she looked very mod wearing it!
-
I never liked Barbie dolls. I was into the baby dolls like Betsy Wetsy, and the toddlers, like Chatty Cathys.
-
Drowsy and Chatty Cathy, and Baby Tenderlove (which, I confess, I still have). And still buy clothes for.
-
I wasn't a big fan of dolls but did have one of the first Barbie's. The one dressed in the black and white striped swimsuit and a blond ponytail. Grandma made her clothes and bought me some of the outfits. I loved the black mermaid style evening gown. Didn't last long cause I really loved horses more and had lots of model horses I put together or got the plastic ones. Kitty
-
Breyer horses? I had two, a pony and a colt.
-
Yep, had some and put together Revell models.
-
I watched my dad and brother put together Revell's. When my boys were young, I was the one who put models togetehr with them. I also built model rockets with them.
-
#blissful sigh I'm loving all these childhood memories...
-
Before white boards, my sister had a metal board on an easel which you could stick those magnetic letters on. But there were special crayons (which didn't mark very brightly) that you could color on the board with, then erase them with a paper towel.
-
Young artists will remember this from the backs of magazines:
Or what about one of the Jon Gnagy art sets. Didn't he have a show on t.v. too?
-
This is the one I remember:
-
Did anyone else have a Betsy McCall Doll?
-
Hey, remember the "old" Quaker Oats man?
>>>>>>
Oh, he still looks that way, but not for long. He's getting a chin lift and slimming down. His nickname is "Larry" (who knew?) and if you like nostalgia, stockup on old, chubby Larry before Quaker's new design hits the shelves.
-
The change is subtle, and if I didn't know about it, I would never notice the difference. Unlike Betty Crocker...
-
The 1955 version is what I remember best.
-
The 65 version is the one that I remembered most.
-
Do they even have her picture on products anymore or is it just the spoon logo?
