new lump

Options

I have had 4 cycles of Chemotherapy and I am due for another one on Tuesday.  This past week I found a lump in the same breast that had cancer.  I have talked with my oncologist who says it is highly unlikely to be cancer but I am very concerned.  Tomorrow I will have a mammogram and most likely a ultra sound to decide what this lump is.  Has anyone had this and was it a reoccurance of cancer.  How can a cancerous lump survive and grow when I am getting so much chemo?

Hi Nannajean -- I agree with your oncologist that it is highly unlikely.  I wonder if it is scar tissue -- I have some lumps and bumps that are just benign, hard scar tissue lumps.  I understand your concern, but I bet you are just fine.  Good luck with your mammo tomorrow and let us know how you are.

You should go with your oncologist's encouraging words.  It really is most likely to be b9.  I've had breast lumps since bc, including FOUR different breast biopsies, and all have been benign.  They pay more attention if you''ve had a history but most likely everything will be fine.
