Good info Renee-thanks on behalf of those just starting this ridiculous journey.
-
Scottiee - Try Biotin for your hair loss. It worked well for me.
-
Mini1.......I was taking large doses of Biotin and the Dermatologist told me to stop as the body could not absorb so much. Kept going with a much smaller dose, with no results....
Oh well, just hair. -
I started hair loss about 2 years ago...just the front is getting thinner....again it could age related
maybe Femara caused it who knows..........
-
Sheila....it is definitely a SE of Letrozole.....I also have lost more from the front and the sides.
-
Scottiee.....It started the last 6 months of Femara....i was almost finished
The first 4 years nothing was going on........
If I put my glasses on I can see very clearly the front is so thin......like you cen see the scalp.......
-
Sheila.....I have the same .....can see right through to the scalp....I have another 4 1/2
yrs to go....yikes....think I'll have to be shopping for a wig soon......lol -
Are you having any other SE?
Letrozole is generic Femara right?
I never wore a wig......When i lost my hair always used a scarf,,,even i went to bed with it so the daughters won't see me bold.....
-
Yes it is. A few aches and pains from time to time but that could be just age, how about you??
-
I didn't have any SE except some cold flushes the first few months....no aches or pains
I was 53 when was DX...now I'm 61.......
-
So happy for you Sheila.....keep well and strong.
-
You too my sister...
Hugsโฅ

Sheila have you tried taking the Biotin? you only need to take one pill a day... try it and see if it helps. I also changed my shampoo to a milder one and I stopped bleaching/foilingย my hair blondeย for a while all of which has helped with the hair falling out.ย Of course if you don't bleach or color your hair that wouldn't be an issue. LOL.ย I also had my hair cut and layered a bit to make it look thicker while it grew in.ย Amazing what a good beautician can do
ย with some layers and dark hair color

Renee - praying for clean results for your mammo!ย I just had my one year this morning and I got an all clear!!!!!!ย The nurse told me and I started crying! She said you should be happy so I started crying and laughing
Clariz - my stats should all be below... I finished radiation on 3/6.
-
Hawk,.yay!
-
Hawk......way to go๐
-
Hi Sisters.....
Renee I didn't try anything...have a Dermatology appt in 3 weeks......my scalp is also very itchy....I was DX with some condition...used medicated shampoos with not much help.........
Finally I changed to Neutrogena T-Sal and is helping me a lot.....
How is everybody doing?
Today I did some special food shopping to send it to my DD#2 (Hawaii one)...i send them what we call care packages....No she is not in the army.......for the new sisters who don't know.........DD moved to Oahu with her boy friendย in January 2009 and they got married this past july in Hawaii.......They miss certain foods from NY...so i send it to them.......
-
Aren't you sweet to do that for dd#2 Sheila
ย and Hawk congrats on the good mammo report!!!ย When I go on Dec 4th for my mammo I won't know the results that day... never do! Boo... they make you wait for a letter or a call.ย It really stinks but oh well, and sometimes it takes up to a week.
-
Sheila, hair care products cause the same problem for me. I've used t-gel for years now with excellent results. And Walmart has a generic version that costs half as much and is just as effective.
-
Renee that is a bummer - where I go, we sit and wait until they come back with results.ย
-
hawk......I know the feeling..i always schedule it when i can get the results right away..
Lately I'm just saying it's a DX Mammo when i make the appointment.......waiting for a week it's way too long...........
Nancy....the one I'm using it's T-Sal not T-Gel...don't know the difference but if it's helping me i don't care.......I'm wondering if CVS has their own brand less cheaper.......
Hugsโฅ
-
Sheila, I think t sal is salisylic acid and t gel is coal tar based. I've used both and the tar based worked better for me but I'm sure it depends on what your issue is.
-
I just realized that yesterday was one year from my diagnosis. I plan on being here for many years in the future.
-
Congratulations wren!
-
wren ~ Sending Dancing 'nanas your way! And while I'm at it, I love to dance, but please don't make fun of me!! I do have rhythm even though I'm not yellow!
Congratulations on your one year-'versary!!

-
