I'm newly diagnosed - bmx w/ rc on 10/3/11 no node involvement (yay!) been told I'll be on herceptin for a year - scares the crap out of me- anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for sharing!
-
how was the herceptin experience? thanks for sharing:)
-
Hi lucky....Please try not to be scared. I got Herceptin for one full year.
Herceptin is not chemo it's a maintenance drug targeted directly for HER+
what kind of chemo regimen you will be on with Herceptin?
(((HUGS)))
Sheila
If you have any specific questions please ask.
-
Lucky...We have handful of Triple Positive Sisters here. I know they will be here for you.
My own experience was nothing as SE.
I got it once a week for a year. Are you doing that or every 3 weeks for a year?
I had issues with my nails they became very brittle.
No problems with the heart.
Most probably you will have a MUGA SCAN (for the heart) before the treatment starts.
Good Luck.

I couldnt wait any longer and called the DR.
I dont think he was very happy with me .
But everything is normal. TM remained 25 like last time.
I'm little upset with him because he made me feel uncomfartable that I couldnt wait for his phone call. I didnt do anything wrong Have I?
-
Good for you...calling the dr....you did nothing wrong.....just wondering if he would make his wife, mother or daughter wait.....then ask me again DID YOU DO ANYTHING WRONG?????
YAY for you.everything is normal.huggggs K
-
Thank You granny.
You know what you are right. I am much calmer now.
My DR is always on time and calls me right away. This was the first incident.
How are you sister/ Looking forward to meet you in spring. BIIIG HUUUUGS♥
-
Im just glad everything went well.....and you didnt have to wait.
i too am lookin forward to meeting you in the spring.
hugggggggggs back to you and all my other sistas.K
-
Sheila you did not do anything wrong. He was probably having a bad day. Woohoo everything is good
-
Thanks to all you wonderful women who are so generous with sharing your hard-won knowledge with me. I meet with my medical oncologist next week to discuss the full outline of the chemo plan. Right now it seems that I'll get four rounds of AT? and one year of herceptin. I've put plenty of crap in my body (food) over the years - and now all of a sudden I'm real squeamish about it - ironic. But you do what you gotta do - I have a very supportive family, wonderful husband and 5 and 7 year old daughter and son - you could say I'm scared, but highly motivated! Thanks again all -
-
Sheila,
You did the right thing - it's your life, your stress to manage - if calling him helps you to live healthier - then it's the right thing to do - he'll get over it. XO Lucky
-
valjean, so happy for you. I am waiting for my 6 month mamo post surgery. I don't know why the results are taking so long. I had it on the 4th...been two weeks, MO says it is just not "up" yet. Maybe it is taking longer because it is Pinktober, and everyone is getting their yearly???
-
Stage 1----sista---you gotta get tough.....im serious....just think would he/she do that to their mother/father/sista/brother/wife/husband even cousin???????come on....really 2 weeks waiting...OMG they are sure lucky it wasnt me.....these damn white coats really have been pissing me off...big time....end of rant.
-
stage 1.....I know what the waiting does to you.
Do you know about the new regulations that they have up to 8 days to send you the results.
At least that's how it is in NY now.
(((HUGS)))
-
I must be very lucky or my drs must be terrified of me...i got my mammo results right then and there.the tech is my friend.i got the gyn results all within 2 days.when i go for colonoscopy i get results right away.My BS calls also right away. All my drs know each other...and maybe NJ just does it differently...just a few days waiting can make you sick. That is just not fair.HEARTLESS.i think i need something to calm me down.Valarian usually works.i think i better take 2.
-
Now I make my appointments on certain day where they actually tell you the results before you leave..
And they do in few minutes. I dont handle waiting very well (mentally)
-
Thank you, Ladies, that's what I needed to hear. I will take charge and get my results! I am a little worried, as when I was diagnosed, the Mamogram took a whole month for results...as it was positive. My mamo after surgery, before rads, results came in a week. That one was negative. I am worried.
-
stage....My mammogram also took 3 weeks for the results.
