Can we talk "makeup"?

Hello everyone!

I have not posted here in a while, but I certainly haven't forgotten your friendship, help, and inspiration!

I need your help please, ladies!  In the months after getting through bc treatment, I have found that my skin has changed and I have yet to find a good foundation that works with my suddenly dry and "older", sensitive skin!  And I confess-- I spent more time in the sun this summer than in the years past (and oh it felt nice and yes I used sunscreen).  I am looking for a makeup that covers well, stays on, and doesn't cost a fortune. Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

My skin is dry and more sensitive since treatment, too.  The foundation I switched to a few months ago is a little expensive, but it does a great job and one container lasts a long time -- Elizabeth Arden's Flawless Finish.  It's the best I've tried in years, and I've been wearing foundation for a long time to even out my skin.  Best of luck to you.  --bonnie

Thanks, Bonnie!  I really do appreciate you taking time to respond to my post.  I will definitely give the EA Flawless Finish a try. I notice on the Elizabeth Arden website that there are different formulas-- do you use the mousse, cream, or powder?  My poor face need something-- I am so desperate that I have started using a tiny bit of Oil of Olay mixed with my regular foundation, just so it will go on smoothly and evenly!   Thanks again.

In my younger years, I was a make-up artist so I'll give you my opinion on this topic.  It is very important to find skin care that works for you.  CVS and other drug stores have a variety of inexpensive skin care products.  Oil of Olay has a Reginerous (sp) line that is terrific for very dry skin.  If your skin is dry but you produce oil (dryness is water loss but you can still have enough oil) try Neutrogena.  Be sure to moisturize before using any foundation.  Almay has a good one.  Test the color on your neck.  If your skin is dry, stay away from any frosted powders.  I use Lauren Huttons face disc which has cover-up, contour powder and blush and eye brow powder.  It is frost free and great for mature skin.  You can find that on the web (www.laurenhutten.com).  Our skin is the dryest at 10pm so try to cleanse and moisturize at night.  You should also use a mild scrub 3 times each week to remove dead cells and stimulate blood flow to the skin.

Thanks very much for your info!  You have been very helpful and I appreciate you responding!  I will certainly check out the products you suggested.  I sure didn't know one could have dry skin but still be oily-- that is ME exactly!!!  I just looked at Lauren Hutten.com and her line sure looks interesting.  Again, THANKS!

Roseann -- Lots of good info. So at what age is one considered to have "mature" skin? The make up/skin care world is so complicated!  I also have dry but its oily nose area, but it seems like its dry on the inside ... being on Femara and Lupron certainly doesn't help -- I am sweating almost all the time, trying to replace the fluids has been a challenge.

MaryJo -- love the new picture (although the other one was awfully sweet too). I have found the biggest thing that has helped my face/appearance has be actually using whatever moisture cream and scrubs and stuff that I have on a regular basis. Go figure, it wasn't working by osmosis thru the cabinet doors .

HI EWB, I had to laugh out loud about your "osmosis" comment--  I can identify with that too!  And thanks for your sweet comment about Mason's new pic-- he was hamming it up that day with some fabric my daughter was working with.  I miss the other one, so I may put it back up soon!
