Iodine for radiation? Good or bad?

Options

I have been reading about taking kelp, which contains iodine, to protect the body from radiation. Some say it helps with the fatigue from rads. But now I wonder... is this similar to taking antioxidants, like Vit E and C, which also protect against radiation, and therefore are to be AVOIDED during treatment? Because they would tend to cancel out the full cancer cell-killing effect that we WANT from the radiation?

I did a google search but found little useful information. Most articles are not about intentional radiation as a cancer treatment.

I am taking an iodine supplement and it has definitely helped with the radation fatigue. It is not kelp, though - was told not to take that. It is a pill with several things in it including goji berry and iodine.

Oh, why were you told NOT to take kelp? When I asked for iodine at the health food store (none of my usual vitamin stores had any), they said kelp was the only iodine source they offered because otherwise it was too easy to overdose on it.
