Oh sorry, you are looking for Stage 11B, but considering that I am Stage 4, this should really give you hope.

    diane,

Im sure you have noticed there is no stage 2 forum. BUT...there is a stage 3 with a lot of woman with 3 or more nodes positive and doing fine!

Remember, most woman on here have just been diagnosed, currently going through treatment or just recently finished treatment. All the survivors are out livin there lives, too busy to visit boards. Smile

God puts people in our paths when we need reassurance. A year ago, while doing my rads, I met a woman....are you ready???...she was a 30 year survivor w/lymph node involvemnt. As one w/lymph nodes involved, I would ask every survivor I met if it was in theirs....God put her right in front of me...it gives such hope!!  And now, I am here to tell YOU that you will be FINE!!   Keep your thoughts positive!!!! PM if I can be aof anymore assistance!

I am newly diagnosed and this is my first post, but my mom is going on 30 years cancer free.  She had IDC with pretty extensive node involvement in her early thirties.  I'm now in my mid forties and until this past week when I was diagnosed, I hadn't given much thought to my mom's cancer in a long time.  Even she has forgotten the details believe it or not.  After almost thirty years, she can't remember how many nodes.  Can you imagine?

LAdies - thanks so much for sharing this great news!

Diana - I share  your fears on this score, but I think we may be over-obsessing. I discussed this in detail with the Professor at my hospital last Wednesday and he really put my mind at rest on the entire topic. I think the way node involvement news is given to us is rather unhelpful on this  really.  It is a very complex topic and in particular,Adjuvent is bald in this regard.  I have read an enormous amount around the subject and most of it is contradictory.

So, I am content to have had things explained to me by a man who is one of my country's leading experts on this, very up to date, and now I feel far more confident.

So, good luck to all and thanks so much or the good news info -

    xxxx

    Diane,

You asked the question I hadn't the courage to ask!!

There is no Stage ll forum but if you go into the forum index and find the forum entitled Comments, Suggestions, Feature Requests and then find the topic entitled Stage ll Forum you will find that a lot of stage l and ll people have joined this thread and there is some great relevant info there.

There are many, many, many survivors of stage II with lymph node involvement.  We will also have many new emerging therapies in the next few years to add to the arsenal.  You will do great.  Maryiz

I was fortunate enough to be node-negative,but I can report on my lovely friend from church, now in her mid-80s. She was diagnosed in the late 1960s with ovarian cancer, had surgery and later was TWICE diagnosed with breast cancer. She does have some health issues due to her age,but cancer recurrence isn't one of them!

Research and treatment improve every day. We all worry about recurrence, but worry lessens with time. Enjoy life and know we're all rooting for you!

My mother was diagnosed in the late 80's with bilateral breast cancer. I think 16 lymph nodes on the right side tested positive for cancer. Tumor in right breast was 4.5 cm and 2.5 in the left breast. Double mastectomy and chemo. She is now 84 years old - no recurrence. After 5 years her doc told her he never would have thought he'd see her get to that point. She informed him that she was glad he kept his opinions to himself!!

Already went through chemo and partial m and now I have been told my tumor seperated and I will have to go in and have a breast reduction with 6 out of 11 positive lymph nodes. Can you really live with having so many positive lymph nodes found. Can you ever get rid of them besides through chemo?

Denny123, you are my hero. I was diagnosed stage 4, 31/2 years ago with total of 18 nodes(both arms) and metas. to the bones. I haven't heard to many people out there lately that have this stage. I am very happy to hear your 7 years of survival.

I was stage 2/3 in 2000 with one large tumour and a secondary one in the same breast, 6 out of 19 lymph nodes positive. I had all the treatment that they could offer me including a mastecomy.

Seven years later I had a new incidence of BC with no nodes positive. I chose to have my second breast removed although I could have had a lumpectomy. I made that decision for cosmetic reasons. I wanted to feel balanced.

Today I am feeling good. I probably don't have a great prognosis, but my reality is that today I am well. My surgeon just says that if I can beat this once I can beat this twice. I am with him!!!

I just found out on Monday that my tumor was double the size they thought and a lot of lymph nodes involved. I've been thinking that this means a death sentence for me and have been freaking out totally. So glad to see some positive stories, all I've been reading are the survival odds and they have been depressing me and scaring me that I may not make it through this.

I am also at the beginning.  Today I found out my tumor was 1.6 cm and I have 4 of 15 lymph nodes test positive for cancer. They were all contained to the sentinal node and none were in the axillary nodes.  This makes me feel better but not even sure what this means.  I think I am IIb but not sure now.  Worried.  Have two young children 44, let me know if you find others.  I am one of them.

I have IDC and am triple neg. and go in for double mast. on the 9th and then chemo.  BUT.....I have a very good friend, actually, kind of a serogate mom to me that had IDC 23 years ago with 22 lymph nodes involved!!!!!  She is fabulous today!!!!! NO recurrence, no problems, healthy as a horse!!!  God  really does put these people in our lives for a reason.  She also was early 40's....just like you and me, i'm 40 with 3 little young girls.....I so feel your pain.
