The count of men from Lejeune is now 51
Hello All....just wanted to let everyone know our cluster of former Marines has grown to 51 now.....this is an article that was published this past Sunday in the St. Petersburgh Times showing the neglegence of the Marine Corp. They knew the water was toxic with both known carcinogins and probable corcenogins for years and did nothing. There were also dozens of women with breast cancer who commented into the CNN blog after their segment aired on this issue who lived at the base.

It affects anyone stationed, conceived or raised at Camp LeJeune from 1950-1980. Both the Marine Corp and a local dry cleaners wre putting chemicals into the water that feed into the housing area. The Marine Corp has said they have attempted to contact those involved and there is a national registry being done. Of course since it means MILLIONS in law suits, you have to wonder. (the few, the proud, the forgotten)
Several of my husbands classmates were stationed there in the late 70s so this has become an issue that hits very close to home!

I am sure all of you are aware that the towns in Utah of St. George and Cedar City were blanketed with rads after all the tests were done outside Las Vegas. The government knew what it was doing, and this rads exposure wrecked havoc on the local populations. But good luck getting the government to admit ANYTHING.
Gentle hugs, Shirlann

Talking to my friend Peter on Saturday, one of the guys on the CNN program, the count is now up to 53. How can we turn our back on the responsibility our government has to these men. And that's just male breast cancer. It's my understanding that other cancers have also been associated with Camp Lejeune.

Holy crap, treating our service members like that. Shocking.

The count is now 67...
so sad,
Marcia
