i need port information

can your port be put back in the same place it was?  my onco said no because of scar tissue build up.

where could i put the port if i had it taken out and needed it again.  i know you can put one in your arm.

does anyone know where else i could put one?  my onco wants me to keep it 1-2 yrs and i do not want to. she said the cancer could come back and i might need it.

Your diagnosis is similar to mine.  Why does she think it might come back? 

Your port can be put back near the spot where it was taken out.  Also, you can put it on the other side.  There is no way I would keep mine in  'just in case'.  It can cause a clot, among other things.  JUDY

I recently heard of someone having it placed between the breasts so that it wouldn't show when she wore a bathing suit.

Has anyone heard of this before?

thanks for getting back to me.  she just said if it comes back you have to have it put in again.  i need to talk to her more and see what my options are.  i just want to take it out, but then again if i need it again i don't want to go through putting it in again. and i don't want another scar! i can't put it on my right side because that's where my bc was.

hey dmp - the risk of u getting ca againanytime soon is pretty low- keeping the port in for 2 years seems really drasic. I have one w/ similiar dx and I would not do that. I will ask my onc and kinda get a second opinion. you know who knows alot about this stuff? Uncleswifeonty I think is hr screen name - she thinks the ports r for the med staffs convenience.
