Genetic testing

I had the genetic testing done a few months ago.  Thankfully the results were negative.  Now however there are a few women I know who are being asked to have more testing done because there is now a third gene they think may be related to breast cancer? Has anyone heard of this.  Each was called or contacted by the genetic counselor they dealt with.  I went to the same facility but did not have to use the genetic counselor there as my friend connected me with someone she knows and she basically just answered my questions.  I have heard it is called "bark or barc" anyone know what this is or heard of this?  I am in Michigan.

There are several genetic conditions that either put one at higher risk for breast cancer, or are tenatively associated with breast cancer.  I think most of them are quite unusual, or we don't know enough about them. That's got to be what she was talking about.  I would assume then though that since this is from 2002 anyone tested would have this a done anyway.

I tested negative for BRAC 1 & 2 despite having a family history of breast cancer/ovarian on both sides of the family and a younger sister dxed with bc at 43. 

My genetic counselor told me it was in a sense, a false negative because there are gene mutations that tests haven't been developed for.  This made sense to me and I have decided to proceed as if the test was positive.
