Hello, I am trying to find help for a good friend who battled breast cancer 10+ years ago, only to have it reccur in first her liver, and now it has spread to her pancreas.

she has been thru so much and is tired of the exhausting chemo (continual at this stage); I wonder if anyone knows of any resources she can try?  I wonder if there is something like this forum for pancreatic....

    Thanks for any info ladies.

My good friend had pancreatic cancer (without breast cancer, and her family had no history of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, etc.)

I'm not sure if your friend's pancreatic cancer was a metastasis, or if it was a new primary cancer.  (BRCA + people can be at increased risk for both breast and pancreatic cancer.)

I couldn't find any on line support groups like this for my friend for pancreatic cancer.  However, she didn't want to go to any support groups (on line or in person). She didn't want to talk anything about her prognosis, anything about her feelings, or even how much her friendship meant to me.  (I brought her to at least 1/2 of her daily treatments.)  I, being selfish, did tell her twice, over the period of about 30 seconds each, how much her friendship meant to me.  Otherwise, I wanted to honor her way of dealing with this, even though it definitely was not the way I wanted to deal with it.

This article is about metastatic pancreatic cancer in a BRCA2 patient. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19433978

This paper opines that mets to the pancreas are not common, and in their small study, aggressive surgery helps (for metastatic pancreatic cancer where the primary is elsewhere). http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19375718

The only thing I could find was a general cancer support group, but my friend didn't want that.

I'm so sorry you and your friend are going through this.  I wish I could help you more.

Thank-you for bringing this to our attention!! Since it has never been brought before. Only another thing to worry about with the  BRACA2. I am unable to get it due to being on the BreastCancer&Cervical Treatment Act. One of the downfalls of it. I wished I knew before I exchanged insurance.

I am so sorry for your friend and sincerely hope she battles this, I know the odds are that type of cancer are tough.

    HUGS-Bridget

The only thing I've heard of for Pancreatic cancer (as proposed by Randy Pausch) is Pancan.

http://www.pancan.org/  (I don't have any personal experience with them, since my friend refused support.)
