    Hi Everyone

may god bless everyone with healthy life

My mother was diagoned with IDC in 2007 (stage 2). Post MRM she has gone for 6 cycles of TEC (no herceptin given that time) followed by radio.

In Aug 09 the disease have reoccured ( in stage 4)the PET CT revels metastases of Liver and lung and lumph nodes in axillas, cervical and neck. The doctor have started giving the Gemcide and carboplatin chemo.

Can any  suggest what would be the benifit of the Herceptin therapy in this case for good quality and quantity of life ( She is ER/PR - and Her2neu 3+)

    Regards

I would recommend getting herceptin (I'm on gemzar, xometa and herceptin) since it is one more drug that can fight the mets.  Also, there are minimal side effects (I have none) so why not?  It can only help.  I hope your Mom gets better,

I am also stage iv and been on herceptin over a year now.  As Elizabeth said the side effects are minimal so it can't hurt.  Many people have amazing results from it.  In my case, I really believe it kept my progression in my lungs in check this last year.  I hope to be on it for many, many more years!!   Best to you!  lisa
