mumayan, We missed you. Hope you are feeling better and we'll see you next time.
-
Yes, it was a small turnout but we had a great time. Missed the rest of you.
Lassie, I tried the bar of soap last night. NO cramps. I am taking a bar to my mom to try and I will report on my further results. If this truly does work, how do you explain that?!?
-
If the bar of soap truly works, then you have to start a new thread and let everyone know because so many complain of leg cramps. I used to get them when I was pregnant and they were terrible. PIP, I hope your "research" goes well. You could then write a book ala SS.....LOL
-
That's fantastic PIP! I have no idea why it works - or even if the nights I use it were the night I wasn't going to get leg cramps anyway. Since there are no cramps, I keep that little bar of soap in my bed.
It really was great to meet you excellent women - and I hope to meet more the next time.
-
Night two. All was good. I put a bar in my mom's bed yesterday so I will see how she did. She thought I was crazy! I will definitely start a topic, after a couple of more nights...for research sake.
-
I tucked a bar in last night, no leg cramps but I don't always get them so that doesn't mean much. But I have questions, it any kind of soap ok? does it matter wrapped or unwrapped?
I am certainly a sceptic about alternative medicine, but this is so odd and so harmless that I have to try it.
-
From what I heard, it is any kind of soap and I use it unwrapped. I share your scepticism and don't know if it is working or not - I used to have the leg cramps occasionally and now don't at all, but was I going to?
-
If you go to snopes.com, it explains that there are a lot of stories that support that it does work. But there is nothing to indicate 'why' it works. Apparently, Ivory is the soap with the most reported success. Dove and Dial were the ones that they did not recommend. Also works unwrapped or in its wrapper.
My mom did not have cramps last night. She changed her bed today and put the bar back in. It will be interesting to see what the week brings. Although I don't have cramps every night, it would be very unusual for me to have 4 or 5 nights without them.
This is just so weird!
-
Maybe Ivory works because it is 99 and 44 one hundredths percent pure.
-
Any chance it might work for restless leg syndrome???
-
mke, pure what?
lindasa, I had restless leg syndrome with chemo. Now I can relate to those adds. It was quite annoying. I would certainly give the soap a try!
-
Pure what? I've always wondered that too!
PiP, I've had on-and-off RLS since I was a little girl, and it did get worse (meaning it happened more often) while on chemo. Weird huh?
And for several months after starting Femara, I was getting leg cramps, facial cramps and sometimes stomach muscle cramps. They seem to have settled down (touch wood!), but that little bar of soap sounds like a good idea. Heck, why not???!!!
Linda

Heck I don't know pure what, soap I guess. They don't use that phrase anymore but it is stuck in my head with countless other useless things.

I wanted to let you ladies know that I heard from gigigigi today and she is home from hospital. Her recon went very well and she is pleased with the results. She said the pain was manageable. Her hubby is doing housework and she has a friend who comes by for a couple of hours a day to help her. She sends her regards and will make sure she can join us for our next get together.
