Catching up a few days and on everyone's activities. Thanks for the pics, jazzy and Wonderland. How nice to see a beautiful day on my cold nasty windy day!

Sunday I walked 50 minutes, yesterday 20 at lunch, 25 this late afternoon. It was 62 yesterday even after dark and it dramatically dropped today. Yick, I had to get out my winter coat for the first time. ThumbsDown

I have a nice chicken soup going on the stove. What a great idea it was on this cold day until I realized I don't have one important ingredient, so I think I'm off to the store!

Happy Veterans Day! Our town sponsors a Veterans Day Parade and I love going to it. My dear Daddy was in the Army Air Corps stationed in India during WWII and it's such an privilege to honor our men and women who served.

    Walked/ran this late afternoon.

Heidi: here is a picture off the Internet of the Big Tit in the Sky (aka Pilot Mountain State Park).

20 mins stat bike; 30 mins treadmill; 20 mins weights. Yes, I wimped out on the Zumba class. Watched while I was on the bike and treadmill and they just moved wayyyyyyyyyyy too fast and made moves not meant for my hip. I did notice later a class that might be okay (Thursday or next week) it's called Body something plus abs and I noticed they used weights. Didn't look as bad as the Zumba but I was tired so didn't join in. I'll get there!

It's only 8pm and trying not to head to bed. May make it another hour but nothing after that.

    Night my sculpted friends.

Patoo....I'm with you on Zumba. My bod just doesn't move like that. I go to the Y and they have a class body something with weights that I've been thinking about trying too.

Did not feel like going out in the dark but dragged myself down to the basement after finishing working on the computer for the day. Did a 22 minute Jillian Michaels DVD again with only a 15 second break in the middle which is a record. I have no excuse for not doing this on those days when I don't get to the gym but still....

Excercise and diet. I am sitting on the couch kinda meditating while watching tv. But I cannot hear any of the words they say because all I can think is OMG I have Breast Cancer so I start my arm lifts. Puffing on an all natural Native smoke. Then I swallow another ativan and break off a half a pain pill left over from surgery. Hoping to fall asleep on the couch in a few minutes. Snacking on old Holloween Candy. LOL. Only kidding. Hope I made everyone laugh.

I love to hike here in the high desert and I eat organic.

LMAO!! puf puff "Gee I hope I don't get lung mets." LOL Awe who cares on adivan and percocet anyhow.

I am trying to use sarcasm to create laughter in myself and others because deep down I am terrified. Laughter really helps. No I do not smoke anymore ever. I was only a 4 cig a day lady. Now I am a zero a day lady. If cancer does not scare a person nothing will. No Holloween candies either. Pure poison.

I had a lumpectomy and node removal last week with big suture lines and pain. No hiking but Today I washed and dried my Jeep. It is a big 4 door. Then I bought Gluten free Rice Flour Cinnamon bread and a jar of organic cinnamon peanut butter as a treat.

How cool is that Cheryl! Wonderland, like the photos and Bcky, welcome, and keep breathing and be gentle with yourself. Hang in there and we know how scary it is and will get different over time.

Freestyle step and body balance this morning.

Back from a 4 day weekend at the cabin - got to see Badger Monday evening - what fun! She was at a training site only 20 minutes from the cabin so we scooped her up for an evening at the cabin of fajitas and margaritas and fun. I'll post a picture when I pull it off the camera. And yep - Mikey remembered her and smothered her with doggy kisses all evening!

Sounds like everyone has been busy!! First, greetings to the newbies - Nash, momwriter, and bcky! (Hope I didn't miss anyone.) This is a great thread with great people. Read it long enough and you too will soon hear our Voices urging you on when you need some inspiration!

Bcky - do be careful since you're just out of surgery - don't overdo, especially with the arm that had the SNB, so as to minimize your risk of developing lymphedema. Take your time and build up slowly, and you'll do fine. Check out the thread on Exercising Safely for Those At Risk of Lymphedema. And yes it's so scary at first, but be good to yourself and give yourself time - it really does get better as time goes on.

Cheryl - you're just a Disco Queen at heart, aren't you??? What a great room for a workout! Patoo - you're jumping right back on the exercise wagon, aren't you?? Ruth - just had to go there and say the S-word, didn't you?? Odie - your bootcamp sounds fabulous - wow. I didn't realize how rigorous it was - no wonder you're exhausted after those sessions. I'm impressed with everything you're doing - you must be incredibly strong by now. Wonder - LOL on the Big Tit!!

How are our midwestern gals doing with that weather? Looks horrendous!

Had a fun weekend at the cabin - spent Saturday raking what seemed like millions of leaves. Sunday we borrowed bikes from the National Park Service Visitor Center at Williamsport - the same place we did the 8 mile run a few weeks ago on the C & O Canal towpath. We ended up doing a 15 mile bikeride on the towpath! It was a beautiful day and a great trail to ride on. The NPS has a small free loaner bike service there which was a wonderful service. Claire - I'm beginning to see what you see in this biking thing, although the next day my butt was a bit sore from that bicycle seat! Monday we cleaned all day inside then got to see Badger for dinner! Yesterday we hit Catoctin Park for a 5 mile hike - another beautiful day. It was the first time ever that Mikey didn't hike with us, but with his heart murmur getting worse, sadly his hiking days are over. So he stayed back at the cabin and napped all day - not exactly a rough day for him!

Half hour of raking at home before work this morning to get the next batch of leaves off the lawn. We got them all raked to the curb, and within the hour the county was doing their curbside pickup, so we just made it!

Welcome Bcky. We have all been where you are now. Rest and take care of your mind and body.

Nats: Can't wait to see your picture with Badger!

    Cheryl: You're the Dancing Queen!

I received the best news today. I get to visit with Ruth on December 4th! Can't wait!!!

Raked leaves for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Sweat, sweat. Have a night meeting so cooling off now.

So here is my story: when I was falling asleep last night, I realized that I hadn't set the alarm (so that I'd get up in time to walk). I fumbled around in the dark, set the time, and zonked right out. When the ringing alarm woke me up; I thought, "Man, I am really, really so tired.....I feel like I haven't even slept at all!" But I sneaked into the bathroom & quietly got dressed so as to not wake DH (who was snoring away). When I opened the garage door, I thought, "Good Grief, it is still pitch-black out there. We must be in for a really dark and stormy day." It was not until I backed the car out & glanced at the clock on the dashboard, which said 1:45 am, that I realized that I had accidently set the clock for 1:00 am instead of 7:00 am. OMG, am I a dork or what?! ShockedCan I still plead chemo-brain, or has the Statute of Limitations run out?!!!!

11/12- hi friends, a bit behind this week. Today I did a double work out at the gym, 25 min of biking and an hour of resistance training with the personal trainer. So I mentioned my waistline looks smaller and today my trainer looked at me and said "I see more changes, we are going to remeasure on friday." Usually she measures once a month but the change was noticeable to her too. Can't wait to hear how much more fat is gone......

Bcky- you are very new to all this and no doubt you are terrified. It is a very scary diagnosis, but as one of my regular docs said to me early on "breast cancer is very treatable these days", it gave me confidence to get through it.

I know you just had surgery and may have more treatment ahead, so do take it easy. You need your strength to get through treatment. Exercise will be there for you as you get on the other side of this......

Bcky, ditto above. Be kind to yourself and don't try and do too much too soon, especially since you just had the surgery.

Nash, I will try the body something plus abs class tomorrow evening.

Tonight is down-time for me but I am back to listening to those voices as they can get very loud at times.

Nats/Badger - great you got to see one another and soon ruthbru will see wonderland. So much fun to be able to meet up.

Midwest folks, stay warm and safe.

    Night my sculpted friends.

Good ride this morning and trainer time this afternoon concentrating on upper body today. I was so glad there were no lunges today but the 80 air squats helped me work up a sweat

This morning has been quite busy. Changed the cat's litter, ran down to Dunkin' Donuts for a treat and then to the post office, came home and folded and put away my laundry, started hubby's laundry, did the dishes, cleaned the bathroom and then did dishes and vaccuumed the living room rug. Waiting for hubby's last load to finish in washer and then bring it up and hang on the clothes racks and the rest of the day is mine to relax and goof off!

Ruth - LOL on your 1:45 am adventure! And as far as I'm concerned, there's no statute of limitations on chemobrain - I plan to use that as an excuse forever!

After your adventure I don't feel quite so bad about what I did to poor Badger when I picked her up at the airport Monday. I parked in the hourly garage and went in to meet her at baggage claim. I made the mistake of coming out of the terminal a different way, and when we got the to garage it all looked different to me. I had the row and section number, but it just didn't look right - like there were other garages and I'd gotten into the wrong garage. After wandering around in the garage for a while, we finally headed back to the terminal so I could retrace my steps exactly. All the while poor Badger is dragging her luggage behind her! Of course it turned out I'd been in the right garage the first time - I just hadn't walked up the row far enough. Chemobrain strikes again!

Here's the picture of Badger and me at our get together, and of course Mikey! He was so tickled to see her - he kept hopping up into her lap to give her doggie kisses!

    image

30 minutes of interval running this morning. I still don't like running intervals. But running them weekly with the running clinic helped me so much, so I'm going to really try to keep up with them. I think Badger brought that cold midwestern weather with her to Maryland - it was in the 60's the day she arrived, and now we're only in the 40's. Shocked
