Enjoyful congrats on finishing chemo!!!!!  That is awesome.

Okay had my port removed today and....that was painful!  Well only the shots to numb the area.  But that was excruciatingly painful.  Felt like bee stings...seriously!  The rest of the procedure after that was fine and pain free.  I did have to have an IV, which I was not happy about.  I am so glad it is over.  I also completed my mapping for radiation.  So onward and upward.

    hi everyone

great to see so many finished now.

sadly no smiley face for me - Tx 5 postponed because of low counts -this is my first delay so was pretty upset.  I am still only half way through the 8 treatments and the very earliest i will finish chemo will be april now.  then 5 weeks of rads.  I feel as if this is going on for ever.

still have limited connectivity so catching up on all your news.

love and hugs to you all

Dear SHelby and others who are feeling really anxious about those final 2 treatments.  You Can Do IT!  I admit that it helped we got away the weekend before my final one and saw my son 500 miles away at college.  I felt so "normal" attending his BB game and getting to eat out and take him to Sam's and hang out at Barnes & Nobel.  I mean it gave me confidence that there would be an end to this chemo madness.  So I'm just praying that you gals racing for the finish can give yourself some serendipitous "normal" moment if its too late to drive away for the weekend.  God Bless you and give you strength.  I'm having the same se's but at least this will be the last time. (i may actuqally regain ladylike behavior and QUIT BELCHING).  there are sooooooo many things I am so ready to give up.  Let's continue to hold oneanother in our thoughts and prayers as the new normal slowly emerges for each of us.  On to the finish...I'm rooting for you!   arby

Help ladies, I saw my onc today to talk about hormonal therapy after radiation.  I thought I was just getting Tamoxifen.  But she said I have three choices, Tamoxifen alone, Tamoxifen with LHRH or LHRH with aroma-something-or-other ( new word=bad memory). The latter two would shut down my ovaries and I would have SEs  such as decreased sex drive....oh great just what I need. And other SEs as well I have to do more research and figure this all out..damn i hate to make important choices like this...I will wonder forever if I did the right thing.

    Hi Michele,

I had the same talk today with my onc.  He's recommending an oophorectomy, mostly because of problems that I would probably have with Tamoxifen (namely, that I am terrible at remembering to take pills and I want to get optimum results).  I'll be glad to get that over with.  The other option was Lupron shots every month - I don't think so!  I'm only 36, so I'd be taking those shots for freakin' ever!

speaking of forgetting pills - I forgot my Emend this morning.  So far so good, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I also squeaked into the Zometa trial - I'm the last person they're letting sign up!  So glad that i read about it thru y'all!

    peace out...

Mary, please put smiley #5 for me.  I was scheduled for # 6 today but my wbc counts were too low.  I'm disappointed.  My sweet husband and I were counting the weeks until the end of chemo.  Now it's 10 weeks instead of 9...then surgery...then rads...then more avastin.  It's a long and winding road !

    Hi girls,

for all you facing chemo this week, hoping all goes well and if you are on the fence about facing this one, I hope you get all the answers you need to make the decision that is right for you.  Someone asked me if I get worried before each treatment. I said no but it is like signing up for the flu every 3 weeks. Chemo seems like it should be the day of infusion that is bad but actually it is those 5-7 days that follow!~!!!

I have to share this dumb thing I just dealt with while talking to my nurse pract.  I have had a cold/virus for a few days and it's getting worse so I called.I told her I have been working at the nursery school with the cold. She told me I should not go tomorrow ( for parent teacher conferences ) because I may pass the cold to the parents!  First of all I will be hugging no one, second of all, I got this thing from their kids!!!!  Give me a break.  I thought she was going to say I couldn't work because I would get worse!!!

oh the fun of all this....take care everyone, Jean

DebbiD, I'm sorry that you couldn't have your treatment.  I know I would have been disappointed.  At least they're watching out for you.  Hopefully your counts will improve and you can finish up next week!

Hi Guys! Congrats Michelle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for all your wondrful support. Had a great talk w/ onc and had a chest x-ray and CT scan and the taxotere is inflamming my lungs-even after 3 weeks. He said there was no data whether 4 txs were better than 6 or vice versa but 4 was clearly better than three txs. He stated since I had five and the tax was doing me harm he wanted me to stop - so he said"Do not lose any sleep - you have completed your chemo and congratulations!" I will take that! I will be checking in to see how my firends are doing later this eve- I PRAY for no SEs fir anyone but if you have them - tell your onc!

    Love, Valerie

Hives... anyone else have these? I think someone mentioned them before. I'm on Day 11 after treatment, so I'm not sure if this is even treatment related. I went to a yoga class at the nearby Gilda's Club last night. The teacher was great and the class left me feeling so relaxed. Anyway, shortly after getting home, I found what I thought was an insect bite on my right forearm. Now I have two more. I thought there might have been some bug in the blankets we used and that it bit me. But only noticed the two additional hives today, so unless I brought the bug home with me, not sure how that would happen.

Woo hoo Michele and Val!  Hope you had a great dinner with the fam, Michele.

I'm still feeling relatively well, no nausea even though I didn't take the Emend, that's a good thing!  Hope I didn't just jinx myself!  Just a little tired.  And that chemo flushed face!

Mary, that's great that you have a Gilda's Club to go to.  I checked out their website, seems like a cool kind of place.  Wish they had one here!  Oh - I haven't gotten any hives, it could be that you were allergic to something in the blanket rather than a chemo rxn.  If they get worse, then I'd call the doc.  Is your right arm your good or your bad arm?

Jojo, keep us up to date, OK?

    Peace,

    Shelby
