Anyone had surgery for a lung met?
Hi everyone,
I first joined as Stage III, but following a biopsy of a 'spot' on my lung after breast and axillary
surgery 6 wks ago they found a lung met that has bumped me up (or is it down?) to Stage IV.
Having dragged myself out of the depths of despair, I'm now back on deck (sort of) and looking at my options.
Apart from building up my immune system and waiting for a later scan to see if the met is stable or growing (which is my idea, not an orthodox option), I'm leaning towards surgery over chemo or radiation but as the lung met is situated close to the still-very-sore axillary area (and I'm terrified of lymophodema) I'd really appreciate feedback on this.
Hugs to all,
Jane

Dear Jane,
Hi,
Just yesterday I got out of a weeks long stay in hospital after last Sun, as I basically live alone, and for 3-4 weeks had bronchitis, put on Zpack, didnt work, cought something from my grown son, his was left w/cough that just woulndt go away, and mine was the same yet I had my BC I had been fighting and mets to my hip...
By that time I coulndt breath what so ever, even tried warm showers to loosen the crud that was stuck in my lungs and chest...and the pain in both, and the coughing waas so bad I couldnt cough anymore due to the energy, and my immune system has been so shot.
After many test, and found out ihad NO potassisum, and I couldnt drink the crapola they waanted me to for the potasssium I knew Id have to go the long way of IV of potasssium, and if anyone here has ever been there with that FIRE going thru the veins knew the feeling. I did mind over matter , even asked for hot blankets thinking i could wish the firey pain of 3 course intervals away..had to do this 3 days, 3 bottles of this stuff daily.
Well I had CT to see what they might find, and nothing of cancer , thank G*d.
But I found out as I had been and still on heavy dose of prendizone, tons of breathing treatments etc...finally by Fri I felt half human, yet my pains were so bad, yea due to my mets and the fibromyalgia etc...
Im home now grateful for now, and following the dr's orders to a T, somewhat, as here you dont get your "real" doc, they give you "their" doc's who dont know you worth adam or eve.
Well after 40 plus years of smokiing, its a gonner, yes that was the first thing i had to have and yea ive snuck a couple, as the doc wanted to gve me MORE meds, and i hate new meds let alone old ones.
I know this doesnt give you an answer Jane, yet its my littlle story, not only why i havebnnt been around for a while again, and hope that yours turns the same, only better.
hugs
Ter
ps, dang it, as i had begun to put a bit of weight on, yet the week prior at the doc I had gone down 3 pounds and week before at dr 2 pounds...and Im so itchy from the prendizone, hopefully i can cont w/it as it is driving me nuts!

Hi Ter,
Sorry to hear about your bronchitis and recent hospitalization. Hope you'll be feeling better soon and can get off meds - or cut down on them. So glad for you that the CT ruled out lung cancer.
I have no lung problems, but dread the thought of getting to that stage, which is why I have to seriously consider my options.
Jane
