Chemo? How much is enough?

Ok, I"m a worry wart.  But her2 pos is aggressive and I want to know if I did enough.

I had bilateral mastectomies Sept. 9, 2008.  Needed time to recover.

Began chemo Nov. 8, 08. Had to stop because of reaction to taxotere.

Started again with supervision Nov. 18, full dose of TCH (taxotere, carboplatin, herceptin).  My diagnosis was in August 27, 2008 but I didn't get started until November.

I could only do 5.5 full doses of TC out of the usual (I think) six, continued with herceptin all along and am still doing that until Oct. 8 to get 17 doses.  I got reactions from the taxotere every time, even with premeds.

My concern is that I didn't do the AC regimen.  And I didn't do the full 6 doses of taxotere and carboplatin. Missed it by 1/2 dose. Have I upped my risk?  Anyone else done this regimen of TCH? My onc says that Carboplatin has synergestic action with herceptin.  That's great but was it enough?

Thank you,

tucker

Dear Tuckert,  Although I havewn't got the same  dx as yourself, I will just mention a paper I happened to read yesterday which mentioned that many chemo regimes habe a bit of a built in "failure to complete" rate in the regime.  Of course, I don't know anything expert about this, but again we are a bit similar, I was operated on 24 June 09, and had a delay due infextion, and commenced chemo 21 August 09.  IT is fine to have that gap; it is from surgery date to treatment that  counts and I truly believe I am noit wide of the mark to say I don't think you should worry too much.  (easy for anyone else to say!  but I think tru.

    warmest hugs -
