HEALTHY RECIPES NEEDED

I want to start eating healthier, but I am not sure where to start. I have been eating more fruits and vegetables, but I need help on recipes. Any input would be appreciated. Sample daily menu would be awesome!!!!!

You've already started if you're eating more fruits and veggies. Making a few changes at a time is the easiest way to go. It's going to be trial and error to find healthier choices that you can enjoy and stick with.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Portabella mushrooms grilled - put them on a whole grain bun with whatever you'd put on your hamburger. I use spinach on sandwiches instead of lettuce (even my 15 yr. old has started doing this) Layer blueberries with a little honey, plain lowfat yogurt topped with granola. I use my rice cooker to steam veggies - fresh brussel sprouts are great cooked in it. Freeze your fruit and then take them out and blend them to make smoothies (add a little whey protein).

I've found something called Sandwich thins, they come whole wheat or whole grain. They're 100 calories (1 weight watcher's point). I toast them and spread them with a low fat laughing cow cheese triangle.

If you hadn't found it, there is a forum for healthy recipes under Day to Day.

WLL ~  There are several good books that helped me tweek an already healthy diet to be more in line with bc recurrence prevention thinking.  Beating Cancer With Nutrition, by Patrick Quillin, PhD, RD, CNS and former VP of Cancer Treatment Centers of America has a lot of good info' in it.

My daily diet is similar to Meg's, but my favorite breakfast is non-fat plain yogurt with fresh fruit (especially berries), dried cranberries, walnuts, ground flaxseed, and maybe a handful of granola.  I've also recently gotten into healthy frozen waffles.  There are a couple of healthy brands/varieties that are gluten-, egg-, and/or dairy-free, and they're delicious.  I put lots of fresh strawberries on them (no butter or syrup), and they're so good that way.        Deanna
