I have been doing Herceptin since July 1 every 3 weeks. I notice the first week I am so tired and the second week I sleep and DREAM weird dreams. Last night I had 3 Scary dreams in a row and when my husband came to bed a 4 a.m. I told him all about them so I didn't forget them. I wake up and I'm VERY hyper my heart beating hard and fast and I feel like I can jump out of my skin. Does anyone else have this? I feel like my Thyroid is off. I am Hyperthyroid  and I feel like this when it is  off. Does anyone feel like this? I almost want to take Adivan tonight. I called the Dr. and am waiting to talk to them.

Well, funny you should mention this.  I'm almost done with Herceptin--three more infusions, and I noticed this pattern for the first time.  I had infusion on Friday, Friday night had a nightmare so frightening that I didn't know who my hubby was when he tried to wake me up.  Next night had trouble sleeping, next night another nightmare.  It took me four days to get back to fairly normal sleeping.  Is that the Herceptin?  I started T/H last November, and finished the T in January, so I'm fairly far into the cycle. but now that I think about it. . . hmm.

With all the chemo, the arimidex, the fear, the changesin my body and life, I just assumed I was cracking up Laughing--it made so much sense.  I have no thyroid problems that I know of.  I also take Inderal, which is also a dream-inducer.

I hope you have a better night's sleep tonight--I tried ativan last month (when I didn't know it might be the herceptin) and it seemed to work.  Thanks for letting me know about this.  Wow.

Wow - I have been on herceptin for over a year now, I have been having crazy, scary dreams.  I thought it was related to stress, but now I will start to mark down the days so I can see if there is pattern.  Thanks for posting!!  lisa

Yes, I had the most horrible nightmares of my life starting with the chemo...I thought it was maybe stress, too?  I am on Taxotere, Carboplatin and Herceptin, so I have no idea if/what any of them cause the night scares. You guys think it's the Herceptin?  Hmmmm? I can tell you, I have never had such awful realistic frightening dreams in my life...I got to the point where I almost didn't want to go to sleep.  Plus, I was waking up 2-3 times a night with them.  My Onc gave me 5 mg of Ambien after I told him and it has REALLY helped me...so very much.  Maybe I am still having the dreams, but at least I I don't remember them, now :)  I am not waking up in the middle of the night anymore, either. I feel very well rested after the Ambien.  Maybe that will help?  Just a thought.
