Hello everyone. Just a quick question. I found out I hadStage1  breast cancer back in May 2009, had a lumpectomy followed with 1 week accelerated radiation treatments. I just found another lump yesterday. I have a needle biopsy appointment set for the 10th of September. You think they could have missed it or could a new cancer cell grow that fast?

I appreciate any replies that I can get.

Best wishes to all.

Hey happy.  I do not think that cancer grows into a lump that fast but not knowing anything more about it then that it was stage 1 means that I may be missing something.  Some types are more aggressive then others but when I found out I had BC the doctors estimated that it had probably been growing for 5-10 years (they thought that mine was closer to the 5 year estimate).  If they did mammogram, ultrasound, and MRI on you when diagnosing the stage 1 bc then I would feel comfortable that this is not something that was missed.  If that is the case then definitely have your biopsy but don't stress your self like crazy until then (you shouldn't anyway but we all know that is easier said than done:) )  If they did not do an MRI last time have it done this time.  I only say this because I had  a small BC in each breast and mammo and ultrasound missed it in one breast. Only the MRI spotted it.  Like I said earlier it usually takes a while for BC to show up as a lump and, even though we may all have won the lottery on this one on this site, most lumps are benign.  I hope this helps and I know that all of this is scary especially since you had quick treatment and probably felt you could move on and forget about all of this.  Good thoughts and energy are being sent your way as you deal with this.

Hard to answer.  What type and characteristics did your primary tumor have?  Receptors, growth rate, margins, chemo?

I was celefbrating finishing chemo after stage 2 colon cancer ,had missed my yearly mammo that year, sure enough had bc while on 5FU and leukovorin, thought wow why didn't that chemo kill the bc too? docs never have had an answer to that,  my onco said some people are prone to cancer (I had cervical cancer at 32, hysterectomuy when my son was 8 weeks old) is the luck of the draw. Please don't beat yourself up trying to figure it out, just take care of the present problem, and  I wish you the best dealing with the tx, keep your chin up and hang on to the life you enjoy, some day there will be answers, big gentle hugs for you, I will be saying prayers, life is not fair for all, will never make sense

Thank you everyone. I sure appreciate your emails and thoughts. Tomorrow is the big day but I won't find out the results until next Monday.

Please look up a really cool site I found regarding reviews on different drugs ie. Femara, Aromasin etc...

Maybe you guys could share your findings on the different medications you've been taking.
