I finsihed chemo in June and tomorrow I have my first 3 month check up, I am terrified! I know my chance of this cancer gone forever are very high, but I am scared nonetheless. I know they will check my blood for markers and do a physical exam. Are these blood tests accurate? I have to wait until January for an MRI. My onc. doesn't order other scans unless I am having a problem. I was just lurking on the Stage IV boards and  now I am more scared then ever.

I know what you're feeling.  I finished chemo in April and had a checkup in July.  My onc didn't even do any blood work, so I'm wondering now exactly what he's checking when he sees me every three months.  He doesn't do any routine scans, and my next mammo or MRI won't be until January.  My fear of recurrence is very high, even though I found my lump at an early stage.

I think with most of us triple neg's this is a very likely fear.  Heck, I have my last chemo on the 9th and then 6 weeks of rads, and I am already dreading my future checkups as I am frightened to death of them.  I have my first 6 month checkup with the BS on Oct 6th, (guess I will just have started my rads about then) and I am even fearful of that.  Wish there was some magic pill for us to take to ease these fears.  Wishing you all the best.
