Well I completed my final Taxol treatment on Monday. I did 12 weekly doses. I get two weeks off and then I get to start FAC......I will do those once every 3 weeks. I will have four of those.

Well would love some insight on what I may be faced with on these. You know the lovely (SIDE EFFECTS)

I thought is was going to be FEC....but saw my Oncologist before I went to chemo for my last Taxol and she said it would be FAC....

Any insight would be appreciated.....

Hi.  I had FEC, not FAC so I won't be of too much help but wanted to offer whatever I could.  What I remember most about FEC was the brain haziness, metallic taste in my mouth and fatigue.  Very doable.   I had FEC x 6 and then I had Taxol x 12, so we are backwards!   Congrats on finishing up the Taxol.  The FEC, for me, was easier than the Taxol.  Take care!

    Joyce,

Thanks so much for responding. I am just so nervous about it. I think the only difference is instead of receiving the drug that starts with E. I get the drug that starts with A.......

Again I can blame it on Chemo Brain....LOL

Hi there - you are right, you get adriamycin instead of  epirubicin.

I don't know what your US hospitals do; here we are given brochures and lists of all the SEs and how to deal with them.  if you log on to:

www.cancerbackup.org.uk/treatments/chemotherapy/   you can download all the SEs etc applicable to your regime :  it is a great site for info.

My FEC treatment is fine - a bit seasick for three days, then better each day.  Sore mouth after about a week - you need mouthwash.  I have a grumbling tummy and wind.  Don't feel tired particularly, surprised at how  relatively easy this is.  You have already done the other treatment so perhaps tiredness is more cumulative, but with a bit of luck, thios won't be too bad for you.

    very best wishes -
