Do Hot Flashes Necessarily Mean Pre-Menopause?

Hi, I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who has had hot flashes, and it didn't necessarily mean early menopause, I am concerned as I am 21, and one day still want to have children if possible.

I had hot flashes after chemo b/c my ovaries shut down from the chemo. All the docs told me I'd probably stay in menopause b/c of my age (39 at the time). However, my period came back while on Tamoxifen, and the hot flashes stopped. I've been having regular periods ever since (I'm 41 now).

Are you still on chemo or have you finished? You are so young that I have no doubt your period will come back.

I'm sorry you are afflicted with this disease at such a young age. I am almost 50 and perimenopausal. I think my "hot flashes" could have been my bodies way of saying I had cancer. I had a mastectomy in July and just this past week all the hot flashes have stopped. I no longer wake up with nite sweats or drip with sweat just becuase. I also haven't had a period for 3 months and 2 days after chemo I got my period so mmm... not sure what to tell you. The body is very resilient especially in someone as young as you. I have faith that you will rebound once you are done with all your treatments and your body has been allowed to heal. I've read posts about this somewhere on this web site.
