Tamoxifen May Increase Risk some types BC

WTF!  Ck out the headlines on the home page and see what the new studies show about our treatment plan that was SO the way to go.

Well, of course, we have to weigh the benefits with the risks, but it is really a shock to me.  I'll get over it and I'm glad they found out it's not all that and gold too.  This will help a lot of others with decision making about long term treatment.

Yep.  I fear that the same will be true for the SERM's or whatever, femara and its kin are called.  I do not like it one bit.

It sickens me to think that it's possible that us girls are human "lab mice" for the pharms. Arghhhhhh!

"possible"?? Anyone who takes a drug is a lab rat. Every other day there's another medicine approved by the FDA that turns out to be dangerous a few years later. The studies just aren't always so great, they are paid for by the pharmaceutical companies, they are sold by "thought leaders" (doctors and others) who are paid by the pharmaceutical companies, the national guidelines from the national organizations for any disease you can think of are written by the same people who are speaking for, or receiving study money from the pharmaceutical companies. It's all a crapshoot. Anyone who says otherwise is not looking closely enough.

And tamoxifen has been on the market for a longish time (let's see, it would have been about 1998 that they got the approval for primary prevention - I so clearly remember the conversation with the drug rep!)  The AIs? Arimidex was the first one (I'm pretty sure) approved in 2005 - babies on the market.

(From someone who has this conversation with patients every day. "Oh, why are we taking you off of that drug? ... Why didn't we know that your diabetes medication could increase your risk of heart attack or potentially make it worse? ... on and on and on. Sickening.)
