Quesion about silicone implants

since you can't have a mammogram with them how do they check for cancer?  I really need help with this.  My regular dr. didn't know and its months before I see the onc again.

    did you have a bilateral MX ?

    I had a unilateral and I still get a mammo on the right side although I have a small implant on that side. On my MX side my oncologist surgeon sees me every 6 months and he does a breast check, he feels all the areas of my lymph nodes, my neck and my recon left breast. That is the only check I have now.

    Someone had mentioned to me that with implants you had to have like an MRI every year.  So that is not true?  I wonder if bc on the implant breast would show up on a PET scan?  Just so many unanswered questions.
