Though Barbe I must admit that even at 9:40 in the morning a gooey cheeseburger sounds excellent.

or: homemade chicken/kale/carrot/celery/leek soup?

A little baklava:

Frito Misto:

Hi, guys! Oh! Look at my smorgasboard of delights!!! If only the cyber-fairy could make them all real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reality was not nearly as good. I did have apple juice and a couple crackers at the place when I woke up but, Kathec, you are on my wavelength because I had a banana (for potassium) when I got home. Then, a short nap.
I
told you about the horrid "prep part. 2" already, the prep you do at 2
a.m. Found out why now...They have discovered that if you complete your
prep the night before, that you will still get a lot of "sticky bile"
up in the ascending colon and that makes it harder to visualize that
segment. So, part 2 clears that out closer to procedure time. All with
upcoming c-scope procedures will no doubt enjoy this new way of doing
things as much as I did (because it kept me awake from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m.)The whole rest of the deal was same ol', same ol' (same aliens, everything) and
NOT A SPECK of CRC to be seen. While that is fabulous news, in the
case of my CRC and treatment, local recurrence is not as much a worry as
a distant recurrence is. Now must face a CT sometime in the next few
mos. to see if my liver has welcomed any visitors or not. I have a
pretty cool liver, so I think it will be fine. Now, lets get back
to yummifying. I love kale in soup. I'd eat that in a heartbeat. (I
did actually have some homemade cream of tomato soup for lunch.) I wish
I had a nice fruitbowl to snack on all afternoon, luv. I can't wait for summer fruit season because I don't buy too much out of season (no offense my Chilean sistahs.) Momine,
you have set out a feast! That is pretty highbrow, pasta with caviar.
Have not tried that. I don't even know what Frito Misto is, but I see
octopus and squid in it so give it a squeeze of lemon and send it my
way. I am torn between one of luv's parfaits and the baklava for
dessert, which makes the virtual dining so great because I can have both. Thanks for all the delicious dishes. I feel so much better now.
-
And there's still room for a serving of Cheetos from the Cheetos cheese wheel...
-
p.s. Forgot to mention that my surgeon's first comment to my husband (while I was still out of it) was that the bowel segment he connected together looked good. Always tooting their own horns, aren't they?
p.p.s. I love my doc. He saved my life.
-
Eli, I am so glad it was all clear in there
-
Eli - Doc sounds like a keeper. My unsophisticated tastes did not even recognize caviar. I knew the Frito Misto had seafood in it but only with your guidance did I see the octopi. One big WHOOPIE for no CRC and tell your liver to behave darn it. I had 2nd prep in the am for my colo but did not have a really early am appt - DH wanted to wait for traffic to clear.
Well, after almost 2 months of nothing breaking around here (my car worked on in Sept and Dec) 7 mo old water heater starter dribbling out the overflow this am into backyard. After arranging to get new pressure valve/labor from manu. the plumber they sent tells me my metering pressure regulator has failed. So he's coming back in am to replace it and meter cutoff. The absolute joys of home ownership.
So far my PCP's Rx for tiredness is just making me tired. Exercise. Hauling boxes out of closet with w. heater, raking hay, forking hay out into the netherlands. All lab work he ordered TSH, T4, lipid panel came out OK. Sleep, blessed sleep. At least DH is off tomorrow to squire plumber around. I may go hide somewhere, city library?
-
Luv, Maybe next time I will try a late morning apt. That way I could just get up at 5-6 a.m. and do Part 2 then, especially if it is just the bile cleanse. More sleep but longer without food. I think I could do that.
I hear ya about troubles with your home (read: money pit.) For me, it is appliances. I was steaming yesterday when my 14 mo. old microwave conked out. One year warranty, of course. I am going for a record with my refrigerator tho', 24 years and counting. Anyone have one more elderly that? My competitive streak wants to know.
-
Eli..a lite dish but yummy......
-
Loral - Just send any leftovers Eli leaves right over here. Looks yummy. I actually had some baby carrots a bit ago - not my usual snack.
Who knew you could have too much water pressure? We're on co-op water and complain of too little pressure. Who know what showers will be like?
Refrigerators - no not that old but I did have a harvest gold one for years. Can't remember what sent it to appliance graveyard. Last one about 5 years ago began leaking. That was timed with one of those energy efficient applicance rebates - fortunate timing. What color is your 24 year old refrigerator? It may be too young to be harvest gold. That one would have been about 37 now.
Yes Eli I would recommend a later appt. I actually slept pretty good. The serious BR trips stopped around 11 p.
-
i do have to say you guys do find some tempting luscious photos of the goods. mine were actually in my kitchen, and just a quick picture, not plated or anything. i dont know why i take pictures of food. or anything, really, except it catches my eye. i declined ass pictures last week. just not ready for that, yet. think ive pissed off my docs there too much, and they might look forward to implanting a gremlin there.
-
...and momine, i will be right there, so don't eat it all up without me.
-
E - thanks for the details of the "procedure" and prep. Have my 1st procedure next week (have to admit I've put it off for a while as I have a phobia of IV's). Now feeling a bit guilty and scared. Go tomorrow for pre-procedure appointment. Glad you made it sound a little less threatening.
-
2TA, I've done 4 preps (total) so far. They are nasty but if you have a choice in the matter, the best tasting one is the Gatorade/Miralax prep. You can pick your favorite flavor of Gatorade (so long as it is not red or purple in color) and if you don't have to do it in the wee hours of the morning, it is actually easier doing it in two parts rather than a long gruelling one. You can ask to be awake (lighter sedation) and they might let you do that.
If you don't want TMI about the c-scope, don't read here...
Also, the aliens that do the actual procedure are really skilled experts. They have abilities that we don't have. For instance, I went in to the procedure with a butt that was still a little sore from all the wiping during the prep. When I came out, not only did I NOT even feel like I had been probed, but my rear had been soothed by extra-terrestrial healing powers. Incredible, yet true.
-
Luv - I had an avocado green fridge for years. But the longest was a round top Admiral maybe 5 ft tall that belonged to my Grandmother - vintage 1950s. It had the plastic drop down "door" for the ice compartment - all inside the big door. When she died in the 70's my folks shipped it to me and I used it until 2000. Granted I'd moved it to the garage to hold drinks, but if I could have found a gasket for the door I would be using it still.
-
My old fridge is 80's almond. I still like that color better than stainless (fingerprints!) or black (more fingerprints!!) When you are lazy, those fingerprint hiding exteriors mean so much.
-
2nd time - I drank apple cider for some of my liquid prep. Now I had mine in Dec. last year so didn't want cold stuff and I could drink it straight from the bottle - or you could even warm it up. Really at the rate you have to drink it I don't think I could have taken either cold or even sl. warmed stuff. Actually cut the taste of my nasty prep - I did not luck into the Gatorade/Miralax that Eli had. I had something called Suprep nasty stuff. Once I gagged my way thru that stuff the rest was a piece of cake. DH and I did some shopping after - knowing us prob. was Lowes.
Mine is plain old white though I do think it has that pebbly surface. Funny how we look at stuff repeatedly and still can't say yes or no and I'm resisting the urge to get up and look.
-
eli, I love, love, love the Peter Max topper! (of course, doesn't measure up to the tits on a plate, but close)
-
Thanks Elimar and LuvMG, for the info! Totally not looking forward to this. My prep is called Movi-prep (it was free so I wonder about it), I was told no red, purple or orange drinks. Have been drinking lots of white tea or warm water with ginger, lemon and honey for my sore throat lately, hoping I can do one of those. Lost the paperwork for what I should/shouldn't eat the days before. I'll know more after tomorrow appt. Can hardly wait to meet the aliens!
-
I'm late on the convo-guess I didn't come here yesterday. E -did you purposefully schedule your c-scopy for the day after the dreaded time change? Well, I wanted to bring in a late night snack in celebration of your clear scope. Can you say WHOOPIE Pie?
-
May last scope (I've had 3) the pre-treat seemed a bit lighter, but I had poorer results with cleansing. The best one was when I was fasting for 3 days prior to get really clean. The cleanse was more like dry-heaves but was much better than my first one. That time I actually wrote up a blog to describe the feelings - like - do NOT use your favourite drink to mix the crap in (pun intended) as it will no longer BE your favourite drink!! And, do NOT wear your best underwear when prepping as that won't last either.
I get scoped down my throat at the same time as I had stomach surgery at 10 days old and they are always fascinated to see it all (I'm part of the oldest generation that actually survived this surgery for Pyloric Stenosis in the '50's). I always tell them to do the throat scope FIRST
So GLAD to hear that you have no issues in that field anymore e!!! I'm in the process of getting my liver checked out...sigh.
-
got instructions today. 1st dose is 5 PM the previous night. 2nd dose is 3-5 hours before procedure (which is 10 AM). A Xanax to sleep and one in the morning before procedure. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the encouragement! LuvMG, apple cider sounds great (and yummy green jello).
-
2TA, Haven't heard of Moviprep, so give us a review on it afterward.
I think most all of the prescription preps are based around polyethylene glycol. Miralax is that too, but no prescription needed. All I know is the one called GoLytely tasted and had a back vapor of mothballs. Came with a flavor packet, so I should say flavored mothballs. EeeeYuk! If yours turns out nasty, hold nose while chugging it down, finish with a swallow or two of non-prep liquid, then release nose. That helped me.
I know this is going to sound judgemental but I am not trying to be, I am just wondering. Are you really that anxious to need the Xanax? Besides the prep, which you at least do in the comfort of your own home, the procedure is really not bad. I've been through a lot right? So, trust me when I say it was one of the easiest actual procedures, just a little nap really, and you don't wake up with drains or scars like the other procedures we all have in common. Is it the fear of the unknown making you anxious? Is it needle anxiety?
Good Luck! Come back and tell us something good (like you don't need to go back for 10 years.)

Hi all - it's been a while since checking in. Had a bit of a mental slump a few weeks ago and just decided that I really needed a break from the site. Have scanned the last few pages to try and catch up.
Want to say a big congrats to DianaRose - have been thinking about you and your wedding. The pics are wonderful. So very happy for you. Wishing you better, pain free days ahead in regards to your health.
Eli - So AWESOME to hear that there are NO signs of CRC from your latest test. Keep on keeping on.
Welcome to any newbies and wishing everyone happy days!
-
Eli - I looked up Moviprep and sure enough it is polyethylene glycol and so is GoLytely. Suprep is a sodium/potassium/magnesium sulfate solution. I'm surprised finding that out about the GoLytely. You'd think it would be close to the same taste as your last prep. I can tell you the Suprep is nasty tasting stuff for sure. Most pts I gave GoLytely to could not finish I think even 1/2 of it. The thing that surprised me was no cramping - just the "gotta go now" urge. I believe they use some gas in the colon so some may get cramps from that gas trapped.
You are absolutely right though about the actual test. You've had much more than me but I've had 2 nuclear stress tests. I'd take another colo. over another one of those including going thru the prep.
Hi Back Barsco. Been missing you. We're here for support if you feel you want to share. (((BIG HUGS)))
Cool I would wear this (if it actually came big enough). Well not sure about two faces sitting just below my tatas?? Had fun looking at Peter Max stuff. Don't think I ever had any though I did have some wild print jeans - remember I'm more in the "ish" age range lol.
