E ~~ Love the tune! Keep hanging in there....
I'm one of those headed "north". Would have left this morning but for the big storm that hit the upper midwest & that I head to the U.P. of MI, I was not about to drive straight into that!! We leave early in the morning so must get to bed.
Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas. I will check in on everybody whenever I have a break (yeah, right!) from the Grandchildren. I intend to give them super BIG hugs & I will keep my emotions in check as they are the ages of those that were taken from this earth in CT.
Good-night & May God Bless..... ♥

I have no idea how it seems like I miss one night but am 5 pages back! Okay...maybe it was more than one night, my mind kind of skips days sometimes!
Eli, glad you're doing a bit better mouth-wise and love your 12 days of Christmas take!!!
Someone going on a cruise (Joni?) I hope you have a blast.
I'm doing local travelling over the next few days but nothing far reaching ... dd's to babysit the most handsome grandson ever tomorrow, sil's Monday, dd's again Tues. Blessed to have family without an hour or so. Then hub and I off all week till Jan 2 - wooo hoo!!! Hoping for lots of relaxing in there, I feel the need for that. Some good food, good wine and spirits...I'm set
My contributions for decorating the room where many of us will come over the next few days.
-
E-you can re-gift but you could save it & use it on Halloween!
I'm off in the AM - have to be at my airport at 8AM PST. Not too bad provided the inclement part of the taboo word "weather" stays away! Will wow you with my stories upon return.
Blessed Christmas my friends!
-

Eli - regifting is the center of our exchange these days. We started it last year when my family pulled a fast one on us. It was suggested to do a regifting exchange so that everyone could take part. It was getting too expensive for some of us, esp with medical appts, lowered income, etc We had a so much fun exchanging and "stealing" gifts amongst the 30 of us. It took a while but was an absolute blast! Then they surprised my DH, DS and myself with a card filled with $$ that they had all contributed to. It was the money that they would have normally spent on buying gifts for the exchange. I am so blessed to be surrounded by such a loving/caring family. The regifting has become a new tradition for us.
-
Barsco we do the re-gift exchange too for the same reasons ... It is lots of fun and all can do it. I am ready for next year ... Got something from someone at work and I am ready.
-
Elimar--Getting that info 22 days later is just not acceptable. What if there had been mets, would it be ok to delay treatment that long? What if it had been a scan looking for cancer? Hearing about delays like this makes me so MAD!
Is that minus 14 Fahrenheit or Celsius?????
Love the Make-Flake site! Thanks for posting!

Well, we are all still here. When's the next Doomsday?
patriciahurtado, Good to get an update from you. I have to say, you make chemo-bald look good!
Eph's probably on her way by now. Can't wait to hear the tale and see the pictures.
So, since yesterday was the Solstice, first day of Winter and all, I turned a blind eye to all that weather talk, but now we are back to the hard line...NO weather reports. I mean, it's WINTER. It's going to be COLD somewhere, probably a lot of somewheres, so it goes without saying. If your home is consumed by an avalanche, or if an ice storm takes out your power for five days that's one thing; if it's just dropped below freezing, well, fine so long as you carved out blocks of ice and want to tell us about the igloo you now live in. Sure we ALL have weather, but around here we ALL have cancer. That's the unifier right there.
Weather was, is, and probably always will be the default small talk; so let's say I just try to keep the small talk BIGGER around here.
-
Gotta say Eli, I'm kind of digging that igloo with the satellite dish!!!
Patricia, gotta say I agree with Eli about you rocking the bald look. I was very surprised during chemo to see how unattractive my head was!
Regifting - our family has a swap/steal and I think this year I'll suggest that we begin that tradition next year - I absolultely love it!!! And what a wonderful thing your family did for you Barsco. Made me smile.
Made good progress today on finishing my preps for Christmas. I'm feeling ready
Still have tons to do, but I'm finally feeling like I'll be all set by Christmas Eve night, which is about par for me!
-
Yeah, Barsco, your family was very sweet and generous.
Marlegal, Good progress on Christmas tasks? Me too. Mine was going to the grocery with the hub so we should be all set thru' next Tues. Uh, that means we'll probably only need three things on the night of the 24th. House is half cleaned and presents are half wrapped. Like you, it'll all get done in the next couple days, AND I don't feel like I am pushing it too hard either.
My mouth passed another test today. I bought some Clementines at the store, hoping that they would be sweet and not tangy and that my mouth could handle it. I have stayed away from citric acid since those mouth sores, but they looked so good today. Well, guess I am healed up enough now because there was no stinging whatsoever. Hooray!
Yesterday's test was Brach's Christmas tree nougats, and I didn't pass that one. I got the bag that had three different kinds in it. I failed the white peppermint one, I failed the red cinnamint one, but I passed the green spearmint one. Probably a good thing that I can't eat too many anyway.
-
I love the igloo! Eli: glad you passed the clementine test! That's shocking with the acidity! .....but definately better for you than the Christmas tree nougat!
Happy Holidays to all...and safe travel for those of you who are traveling.

Maybe I am a glutton for punishment, but I have been doing so well this week that I think I should request going back on my original dosage of chemo. I do have dry mouth and sometimes it feels a little itchy, but all of the ulcerations are healed with maybe 2% of rough spots remaining. They put me on 75% of the original dose this past week, but I don't want to go too easy on the cancer. The only thing holding me back is that I want to enjoy Christmas without any g.i. issues. It's bad enough that I will be on my four foot "leash" throughout the entire holiday season, but all I want for Christmas is no S/Es.
This time around I thought I might not get as much fatigue as last time with breast rads, since I have been sleeping a lot better at night these past two years, but I seem to be following the same pattern as before. I do get fatigued in the afternoons (and am lucky that I can nap) and then I am tired again by 9:30-10:00. This time, I thought I would try to see if exercising helped with the fatigue. Today, I walked over a mile and a few of the nicer days I went on short bike rides (like only 2 miles) and although it does feel good to get moving, even doing that seems to take the wind out of my sails.
The one good thing about Cancer-y Christmas is that I have a house of willing helpers, with a husband off work and kids on school break. My DH has been doing most of the cooking, which really helps because I can't stand some food smells and my appetite is quirky now. When I was on the hydrocodone, I asked my son to drive me to the daily appts. a couple times. Other than that, I haven't asked for much yet. I wish I could fast-forward three weeks to the end of the chemo.
-
Eli, I'm so glad you're paying attention to your body/system and reacting almost perfectly. Almost...cause you're expecting those ads which say exercise helps with the fatigue to actually work. When will we all learn that exercise is only for the fit and healthy? LOL - just kidding all you health nuts, please don't bash me in your replies
Just a little holiday levity. I love clementines this time of year - even though they remind me of my chemo year because I ate hundreds, I swear...but they're so good I didn't hold it against them. And very very glad that your helpers are coming through for you. God knows you deserve that at the very minimum. I'll think of you tomorrow night when I'm wrapping gifts, thinking of you finishing your chores for the holiday too! I just now wrapped the two gifts that I need for tomorrow when we go to hub's sister's house for the annual Christmas Eve gathering there. It's an early event so I should be home by dark...at least, that's my hope.
I'll add my best wishes to everyone else's that we all have a peaceful, pain-free, love-filled Christmas.
(Warning...it's likely that I'll repeat that three or four times over the next three days...I have a tendency to do that under the best of circumstances, let alone if it's combined with a glass of wine or two!!)
-
Marlegal - set by Christmas Eve is about par for me, too. No matter how I try, that's how it usually ends up. I've always wanted to be one of those people that have everything done weeks before Christmas - presents bought & wrapped, cookies baked, house clean - and then just sit back and enjoy. Next year for sure... LOL on the exercise to keep up your energy. I've also always found that you have to have energy to exercise... those tricksters!
I found a recipe for a crock-pot Christmas breakfast - throw it all in before you go to bed and it's waiting for you when you get up. It's kind of like a western omelette with ham, eggs, diced onions & green pepper, Monterey Jack cheese, etc., but also has hash brown potatoes at the bottom. So, off to the store to get the fixings!
Here is a neat video of a house decorated to the tune of "Amazing Grace":

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

I don't have time to catch up on the thread, but just an update on my flashes and Apple Cider Vinegar treatments. SUCCESS!!!! that are one zillion times better. not gone yet, but its not even been a week. I'm taking one tablespoon the times a day in a small glass of cranberry juice.
have a great Holiday and travel safely all -
heart - I've found that if I get the Christmas gifts bought too soon, I either hide and lose them or the recipient goes out and buys a what I bought for them or some other disaster, so yeah, no more early shoping for me.
-
Thanks for the update Junebug....is that one Tablespoon once a day or three times??
Eli, glad you're feeling stronger....now go kill some cancer!!! Jk....take care of yourself and enjoy your holidays!
Merry Christmas to all! -
chachamom; three times a day. its really helping.
-
Wishing all of my sisters-online a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a wonderful 2013. May the powers that heal be with us all!
-
Merry Christmas

Darn! Tried to sleep in, but the old "boss in a bag" turned alarm clock and woke me up early because it was empty, not that it means I don't have to carry it around all morning just because it has nothing to do. Oh, no, we're still a couple.
It's going to be just like any other day today...rads, then chemo appt. for me. Once that is done, I can sit back, relax and let the holiday begin. Hope everyone is done with (or putting the finishing touches on) all their preparations and can do the same.
-
-
Your hair looks great, Eli~!
-
OUCH!
-
juneaubugg: Thanks for sharing your experience. I've been having multiple hot flashes, but here in the frozen north it's easy to go outside and cool off quickly. I'm looking forward to giving the cider vinegar a try when I'm back home.
All: Merry Christmas eve to those who celebrate Christmas, and Happy Holidays to all!
-
So which of you buddies are going to come to my house next year in November and remind me that I do NOT have the stamina anymore to wrap dozens of gifts in just a few hours? Still have two casseroles to prepare which take time just prepping and I'm only about half done wrapping the gifts for tomorrow. Duh Mary - last time you wait this long to start wrapping at least! I'll sleep well tomorrow night at least. But ... I'm grateful that I had money to buy so many gifts, even if many of them were small things (like a shower cap for one dd!) and I'm grateful that I am well enough to lose a little sleep one night and not have it bite me in the ass too hard, and I'm grateful that we got together with hub's family earlier today and made it home before the snowflakes started. Yes, here in Phila, it's snowing right now. Pretty, but supposed to be gone and not a problem for roads by morning when we head out.
Sweet dreams all
-
Bermuda, that was a really lovely post! Thank you. I needed that today.

Merry Christmas! I'm typing this on my Christmas present. I was going to ask for a Kindle but my son suggested the Nexus 7 by Google. Nice tablet, good reviews and reasonable price. Cool feature I'm using right now where you don't even type the letters, you just slide your finger around the keyboard - so easy! I imagine this would be great for people with arthritis.
Now for a quiet evening studying my new toy. Hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas day. -
I love my nexus 7. Also love my k fire. And my droid... So I'm a slave to my gadgets...
