suzanneinphoenix & cmblastic: welcome!
Sorry everyone, I started the party Sunday night, then I went off to my first day of work since my surgery last September, and was too tired last night to continue the party.
We need some fireworks here for cmblastic's 1 year cancerversary!
-
A beautiful tribute to cmblastic's 1 year cancerversary!

I clicked Meese, thanks for the link! I'm trying to hook it up on my facebook page now too.

I seriously would have forgotten Flag Day today. All those moved-to-a-Monday holidays have just made my brain lazy. Remember when we had to know TWO President's birthdays, plus Columbus'? Has YOUR birthday moved to a Monday yet? It will in due time. I like the way Easter keeps us on our toes by moving around. Bet they'd like to move that to a Monday too. How 'bout Thanksgiving Monday? It could happen.
Meece, I might not make the flag cake, but I do have strawberries, blueberries and some vanilla yogurt in the house, so I could whip up a Patriotic Parfait.
-
I never forget Flag Day - it's my baby brother's birthday
And I like Thanksgiving Thursday - I get two days off work that way
-
elimar, I'm up for your suggestion, maybe we can sponser a congressional bill requesting all holidays move to Monday and make them official so that all offices, banks, post offices, & schools are closed!
-
Meece - Thanks for the link - I clicked on it.
-
jo, How are you feeling today, after Sunday's (oops, Saturday's) surgery?
kal, How was the first day back at work? Any dopey comments from co-workers? Any sad, pity looks at your chest?
-
elimar, first day back was tiring, but a REALLY good tired. no pity parties or stares, they KNOW I would not stand for that...i do have to say, things never change. went to the ladies room and found 2 squares left on the roll, thank god I looked before I got too far. walked out of the toilet room and started giving everyone sh** about it. In the midst of conversation i whip off my hat and let 'im stare at my 1/4" salt-n-peppa head...maybe i should change what i said about stares....but i've got 'im laughing.
jo, i forgot, you're supposed to have results today.
-
Kal - Today was the follow up the pain specialist. Went well. Don't have to go back and see him. My MO can manage the pain and the medication refills. I do get my results from the biopsy done on Sat next Tues afternoon. So many appts this month it is hard to keep them all straight.

barbara a...I LOVE my dentist. Although it has been awhile since we've been "together" because of stupid canser (deliberately spelled wrong so as not to give it too much power), we do sleep together regularly, bless his heart.
P.S. We have been married, 28 years next month!
Glad to hear so many good reports and celebrations. I was just getting ready to put out my flag and find a flag pic to post on Facebook for today. hope you are all feeling SE free and have energy to do what YOU want (not what needs to get done-that can wait!) Now back to my cup of coffee and newspaper in my sunroom filled with blooming plants-first time I've gotten to do this all spring/summer! ahhhh me time. so rare and delightful

Husker, If I had been smart, I would have married a dentist too.
I'm not trying to be crass when I say I am a Stage IV dental patient. I am on lifetime maintenance, and have been in never-ending treatment for years now. So, too bad I did not get with a dentist. No luck in pushing my sons to that field. Likewise they don't seem interested in chiropractic or massage therapy either. Darn!
Do like my dentist, tho'. He exhibits calm when I go into panic mode. I like that he has had troubled teeth too, because he knows first hand what dental pain and suffering is all about. I'm at a point where I have to go to someone who can truly know my frustration.
There was a thread (pretty sure it was in "alternative" forum) about dental fillings and root canals, etc. having a relationship with cancer. The "evidence" there did not seem very scientific, but I read it with interest anyway because of all my dental issues. If that ever is proven to be a direct cause of B/C, then there will definitely be a recurrence down the road for me.

Added the yummy looking dessert to FB! Meece, Baby Boo here yet?
-
Speaking of flags, did I mention a couple of weeks ago that someone had stolen ours - pole and all? We always put our flag out (have since we got married 27 years ago) and replace it regularly as it gets weather damaged. We had just replaced it the week before it was stolen.
I mean, c'mon, who does that? Well we replaced it again ASAP and added an additional screw drilling the post through the holder this time.
Kim, glad your first day back went well.
-
Well while I was moving, unpacking and smothering my grandson in kisses and hugs you all were partying, how rude
I can't catch up but wanted to say thanks for the kind words a couple of weeks ago when I tired and whiney. Husker are you from NE? I just moved back from NY to Omaha and now the job hunt begins (well in a while) cause I am living the dream for a few more weeks. I can't post pictures even though I am following Faith's instructions with photobucket. If anyone else can give me hints it would be so appreciated.
-
well I need to find that dentist thread cause lost 4 teeth first time and filing just fell out about and hour ago AND don't know if the insurance I have will cover pulling this one!!
-
What a refreshing picture up top E!
-
I wil now forever remember Flag Day as the birthday of my first grandchild. Boo will be here within the hour. Emergency c-section.
-
Edited to remove double post. I hate when that happens.
-
Meece I hope everything goes well for mom and baby. And grandmom!
-
OG & blondie, you both showed up with new avatar pics tonight. Coincidence? I want to know what those tiny words are saying on your pic, OG.
-
Grammy Meece, may the birthing be easy for Baby Boo and your DIL.
-
E- I used a magnifying glass!!! I think it says "true-there were side effects". The lady is standing there with lots of of polka dots everywhere-must be faithandfifty!
-
Well, one of the things we know a lot about around here is S/E's, that's for sure!
-
Elimar...I will have to check out the dental thread and/or comments. Glad you have a good dentist if you are spending so much time together!
OG56...I AM from Nebraska! I live in Central City (pop 2800) north of Aurora 20 miles, or between Columbus and Grand Island (25 miles away) on Highway 30. Heard of it?!! I grew up in Lincoln. Had my lumpectomy at Methodist Hospital in Omaha (about 84th & Dodge) in February. If you just moved to Omaha, then you probably are not familiar with my little town.
Good luck with your job hunt! PM me if you want more detailed Nebraska info...and of course, you must learn to be a Nebraska Cornhusker fan!
-
Patrick Alexander arrived at 9:02 pm and weighed in at 8 lbs 13.5 oz.
-
Congrats to all, Meece! Isn't it incredible that when you woke up this morning, you didn't even have the idea that you'd be a grandma before the night was over? Talk about happy surprises!!!
-
So beautiful Meece. Just what I needed since I just found out another Stage IV sister has become an angel. Elizabeth (Konakat ) was the first one to reach out to me when I joined these boards.
Your grandson is a perfect reminder to me of the miracles in life. Thanks!
Now I'm not trying to bring everyone down let's celebrate! -
So sorry to hear about KK. She was a dear person with a lovely sense of humor.
