Great pics of laughing. I really needed a good one today. LOL!!!!! Thanks

3jaysmom--it may actually work in your favor to have the diagnosis "outed" because then your employer has to be super careful not to do anything that could be construed as discriminatory--cancer is a disability under the ADA!

Elimar - SAVI is a Breast Brachytherapy ... internal radiation. Since I had a lumpectomy and was early stage, I was a candidate for it, after I told my radiation onc that I wanted it instead of the external radiation. Instead of the balloon brachytherapy, the SAVI applicator looks like a wisk ... it's the size of a pencil when the surgeon puts it in, then it expands to the size of your lumpectomy cavity, then the radiation "seeds" are inserted twice a day for a week. Each session lasts about 20 minutes. No pain. You just have to be committed to having this thing sticking (the catheters from the SAVI) out of your breast for a week, and changing the dressings. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm glad I did it... so far. :-) - Theresa

Well I passed my Mamo, but there is a 5 cm seroma and that is what is bugging me! I explained to the tech that I didn't want my boob squished because I was sure I had a cyst or seroma and they listened, and did an ultrasound to confirm my suspicions, but dontcha know the tears still flowed because for a moment I was scared that they would come in the room and say they found "something" again! Barbe both breasts have had MRI's but needed a new baseline after last big excisional biopsy.
Theresa, I did the Mamosite and am still glad I took that route, it was pretty new 2 years ago but I knew about it before BC and said if I ever got BC I would want that and unfortunetly the day came that I did.
Time for cheeto's and wine

As usual, the man in the group is way behind and foolishly lost. Upon reading Paulding's B9 post, I was initally thinking, "Why is everybody so excited about vitamins? Can only certain people take B9s?" Everybody was so happy, that I became happy, but I was still confused about all the fuss over vitamins. Then I actually Googled it. Yes I Googled B9 and came up with....more vitamins. So then I Googled B9 and BC together. Still lost. So I said it a couple of times trying to make sense. Nothing. But then a Google link led me to a link on BC.org and found someone asking about having a B9 tumor on their leg bone. And I thought, "Oh, that does not sound good. A tumor with a letter and a number must be really really bad." But then a voice in my head said, "Excuse me, Dumbass. May I call you Dumbass? B9. Be nine. Be Nine. Benign. BENIGN!!!!"
Congratulations Paulding ten days later.
Hope this made yall chuckle. Sadly, it is a very true story. Men. Gees.

Sound just like my DH! LOL ... cute!

robbie, the secret decoder ring is actually a thread called "Abbreviations for Newbies."
OG, Can they drain the seroma? Why do some women get these and not others? I imagine it formed in the space that had the Mammosite. I wonder if seromas are more common in women that had the balloon brachytherapy or SAVI (comment theresap?)
-
Robbie you are a crackup and don't worry you will learn fast. Oh by the way, welcome to the club!
-
hilarious robbie!!!!!!!!
OG56 ~ Good news on the mammo! What is in the works for the seroma!
-
Sorry for the confusion Robbie. Your post cracked me up. I posted the same results on facebook and I realized that not everyone things in terms of cancer abbreviations.
-
Patoo's thread of abbreviations saved my dignity when I first started here.
-
Don't feel bad Robbie. I've been on here for awhile and still get confused. But I blame it on chemo brain.
-
thanks, valjean..i'll get it yet.. still waiting for computer to get fixed. at least ill know WHAT to say, imho...light and love, 3jaysmom
-
I blame it on chemo crain 7 years out!

So E-I didn't realize we were all posing for the camera when we got into our positions at karate last night. I also didn't realize that my pants were down so low (that's me on the far right); I'm jailin'.

elimar & OG: What I've read and was told is that seromas can form with any cavity, even after surgery removes the lump. If it's not infected, then there is no treatment. My surgeon called it fluid or edema. My mammogram didn't show up anything out of the ordinary. My breast still feels lumpy/clumpy at the site of surgery/SAVI but it doesn't bother me now that I know what it is.
I can't find Abbreviations for Newbies! I can see myself making the same foible as Robbie! Someone provided a link in another thread, but it didn't work for me.

Joni ~ You crack me up! I was looking all over to see what you were talking about & then spotted the newer pic elimar posted. Good form sista! Actually, I forgot to wash my "whites" so I took the picture instead!
-
I put that picture up, thinking of smithlme, and you would only have to see her signature line to know why. With a little luck she will visit the thread before I change it again.
-
Wow, we all really had a bad hair day that day. Must have been 102 degrees with 99% humidity.
-
hello everyone, Doing well after second round of chemo. Also got the report of PET/CT scan, still have some enlarged nodes but the chemo will shrink these nodes.
Ladies, As I have read these posts, I can see the concerns over delays, waiting time and poor communication from healthcare provider. This sucks and should not be happening. You have to be annoying, whether the drs or nurses like it. ALWAYS follow up after a test or biopsy and demand a copy of the report. CALL, CALL and keep CALLING for information. After you have been diagnosed there should not be months of delay. Find a good friend to go with you to appointments or call your BC nurse navigator every 2 days so help in keeping things moving. Remember this is your body, not their, but also there is a lot of us out here and drs do get overwhelmed, so just push thru. You do have choices, I warned all my onc specialists that I was a very pushy nurse and I know what has to be done and the timelines, so they should be prepared for me. So far they just laugh and agree!!!
Love you sisters, Peace and laughter, and kick a......sss.

Way to go Cheryl, can you come to my onc appointment with me tomorrow?
PM, what do you mean bad hair day. I worked hard getting all that fluff nice and even (Me second from left)
-
Cheryl: I try to be annoying every day.
I'm pretty good at it, and I've been applying it to my healthcare professionals lately, much to their dismay. So far I've worked over the oncology nurse and a woman at the mammogram imaging center. Next on the list is the dentist. Fun, fun, fun!
I'm not in the picture up above, as my Toni home permanent didn't take as well as y'all's did and I was embarrassed. I also couldn't find my big glasses from 1988.
You all know that these are actual pictures of Elimar's real friends and family and pets and Cheeto art projects, don't you?

the laughing kitty is one of the funniest i've seen. thanks fo making my day brighter..light and love, 3jays

Can you believe how big our glasses were? And the colored plastic frames were so in fashion! Sally Jessie Rafael
-
I miss the big ol' frames. The small ones are cuter and trendy, but I have no sense of what's on the ground right in front of me. Thank goodness for contacts, or I would be injured daily by falling over marching shoes and Lego and instrument cases...
