Handling side effects

Options

I have read many posts about all the terrible side effects and have been very educated on how to deal with them. Luckily for me I have not experienced any to date. I completed my second treatment Thursday and all is still well. The nurse at my doctors office gave me an hour long educational meeting before all the fun bagan and that was very helpful. The most important thing she told me was to consume 3 liters of water per day to help flush the toxins out of my system. I have been religious about this and I believe that it does help. Also, I was prescribed 4 medicines to keep the nausea at bay. I take Emend and Decadron for the first 2 days and then Decadron for the next two. If I do get nausea after taking these medicines then I still have Compazine and Zofran to try. Again luckily for me the Emend and the Decadron are doing the trick. The other handy tip I got was to take 1/2  packet of Mirilax the day after treatment to avoid constipation and that too has helped. As for the Neulasta shot the day after treatment the secret there is to take an Aleve 30 minutes before. This has worked wonders for me, no aches at all. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor for these medicines if you aren't getting them now. I hope this helps someone.
