IBC STG IV - what is next

Options

I was recently found to have recurrent cancer in my same breast but this time IBC STage IV.  I am devastated to say the least and started chemo yesterday.  I basically diagnosed myself and insisted on what tests needed since my surgeon did not believe the symptoms I was having.  Well eventually I was told that the cancer is at a stage IV since it spread to my liver.

Needless to say, anger was my first and still my primary emotion and do not believe that the chemo is only palliative - I will survive.  However, the chemo is nasty - any thoughts?  I am getting adriamycin and cytoxin.

I'm sorry to hear about your recurrence. Are they adding Herceptin to your chemo? Avastin is also very good for liver mets.

There are a lot of very knowledgable IBC ladies here, as well as HER2+ gals. Also, check out www.her2support.org for comprehensive info on HER2 bc.

My doc talked about Herceptin but did not add to my regimen - at least not on my first infusion.  I emailed him over the weekend and should get a response from. In the meantime, my GI tract is messed up.

Adriamycin and cytoxin is the chemo I had and I had diarrhea the whole time not even lomotil would help it.  I have a friend that it is in her liver and she also is on herceptin and 2 other chemo's.  I wish you the best, hang in there and please let us know how you do.  you might want to post some on the stage IV thread.  those ladies have a lot of experience and knowledge they can share with you.  God bless.
