My aunt is on abraxane and avastin.  She has been on it since March. Her first scan showed that the cancer was shrinking (it had spread to both lungs). This scan was in June.  She is beginning to have alot of trouble with walking and some vision problems as well.  Does anyone know if she gets good results in Sept. can she have the Dr. cut back the dose so she has more mobility?  Has anyone else had this happen to them with this drug combo. She is really having a rotten last couple of weeks and she has a dear daughter that goes off to college next Friday.  She is feeling so low and sad.  Does anyone out there have any encouraging words I can pass on to her?  She is not on the computer now as it is in the basement and she cannot negotiate the stairs safely.

Thank you to you all and we pray for everyone of you, please pray for her too.  Thanks

Is her oncologist aware of these side effects?   sometimes it gets to the point where you need to weigh the side effects and decide if it is worth it.  There are a lot of treatments out there with lesser side effects. I would imagine her trouble with walking is from neuropathy and you are supposed to report that to them immediately and sometimes they will stop treatment (depending on how severe) or cut back on the dosage...also there are meds they can give you that help with that like neurontin and lyrica to name a few.   I chose to quit abraxane/avastin after 22 treatments...my tumors did shrink, but I drew the line when the neuropathy went into my hands and my onco agreed that it was time to look for another treatment so I am now on a "break"  I had problems with my vision also, but mostly because my eyes were constantly tearing.  There are some posts on here under the topic Abraxane/Avastin  or Abraxane vs Taxol and you will find a lot of women who posted on there who were very satisfied with the treatments and got really good results. I hope everything goes well for your Aunt.

Her oncologist is aware of the issues she is having and made some adjustments on Monday.

Thanks for the reply Marybe! I will pass the information along to her. Hope you find something that will work well for you too.
