Sugar or Not?

Ladies,

I'm sure you've read something like this before and my apologies for repeating what seems to be a common question.  But I was told by my nutritionist that I'm better off with sugar-free stuff (candy, ice cream, etc.).  When I asked about the Aspartame in the sugar-free items, she said that the amount is so small it would be fine.  However, my Onco is telling me to stay away from sugar-free stuff and just have sugar in moderation.  What is your take on this?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Mary

Mary, I too think like you. Should I eat that or stay away from it. I've come to the conclusion that you can't eat perfect. We are supposed to eat fruit and veggies, but they have pesticides on them. So I at least wash them and take the skin off, but then I'm getting rid of the skin which has all the nutrients. I now eat in moderation. Peaches are the worse fruit for pesticides. But I only eat them three months out of the year and not everyday. So I'm not really going to worry about it. You can't worry yourself to death on what to eat.

Stay away from sugar as much as you can. Switch to Stevia or blue agave nectar. They are both good substitutes. I can atest to this because I love(d) sugar. Here are the fruits and veggies to avoid that have the most pecticides. It is off the Environmental Working Group, a fantastic website!
